The worst part about it was that said tram could have just been phase 1 of a potentially much larger system that would have reached NBR.

If campus to downtown was done properly and had solid ridership, they could have expanded it to BTR, Southern, and/or BRCC eventually. These politicians have no vision and can’t think more than one media cycle ahead.

What I pictured was the light rail and the BR/NOLA commuter rail being done to integrate into one-another.

First length of streetcar runs from the state capital down third street and Nicholson eventually ending at Brightside.

Second length goes down north blvd or gov to connect to red stick social and the greyhound station.

Third length goes up 22nd St/Plank road to the airport

Forth length connects Southern to the airport

5th length connects the greyhound station with BRCC.

6th length Brightside to Laberge

7th length connects the state capital up to cheppewa st and then Plank

Meanwhile, the commuter rail has stops at red stick social, Southdowns, the hospital district, mall of Louisiana, and blue bayou

Then, all you need at that point is one more line, maybe running on Lee/Foster to connect LSU with BRCC or Gardere with Perkins Rowe and the Mall.

A decent amount of it is how much grift they can get from a project or how they can make political hay from it.

That tire recycling grant is a good example of how things that would have been good for the parish and cost nothing got killed because bringing work to NBR isn’t good enough if it is jobs they don’t like.
