Amex has tons of transfer partners for their points. Hotel chains, airlines, etc. If you play your cards right and choose the right airline with off-peak miles you can get business class flights to Europe for 30k Amex points or less. Some even get a bonus at times. For instance.
Amex to Avios 1 to 1:4, 30000 Amex points transfers to 42000 Avios. Iberia business class off-peak from IAD to Madrid for 42500 Avios in business class. That's a redemption that is very tough to beat.

I don't know if I fly often enough anymore for it to be worth it for me. I haven't been on a plane in 10-12 years I believe. It's too expensive to fly a family around and I don't travel for work anymore.
Maybe we'll travel more when the kids are out of the house.
