bikes of that style are great
they top out fast though so as long as your not doing any freeway riding, those are great fun and easy to handle

Talking to the dealer they have two unsold 2022 models at $3600 that's cheap for a new bike.
Less than I was thinking of spending for used.
Hard not to pull the trigger on a new bike with warranty at that price.

Honda xr650l is an awesome dual sport. Usually find a nice used garage ornament with very low mileage for 4-5 k . The suzuki 450dlr is good option as well.

Itchy Boots on Youtube has spent the last 5 years cruising the world, much of it very back road, and her first two bikes were Himalayans. Here's a link to a summary she did at the 60,000 km mark, about 4 years ago.

Looks kinda wimpy but sounded like you’re looking for a smaller lighter one so that works.
It’d be funny hitting a trail on a Kawasaki crotch rocket.

For the price of a vacation I can have a new motorcycle but I do worry about the size. I think a twin may be a better fit.

A Supermoto fits what you described, Kawasaki KLX is a good one. SUZUKI DRZ is another good one.

Getting Divorced and getting a motorcycle, huh? If I was going through a divorce I wouldn’t care if I died either

You want a duel sport jap bike. Weight matters off-road.
