#F1 #MiamiGP on ABC attracts largest live United States television audience in #F1 history

??3.1M avg. viewers for race telecast (Sunday)

Make sense that a race broadcast on ABC in the middle of the afternoon, with a lead in from a Game 7 in the NBA, would have great ratings. The race was entertaining as well.

Yeah, I was surprised to see it on the TVs at my Gym’s pool. Saw that the wrong person was leading but still the only way it would have been on is if there was something else before it or nothing else on sports-wise.

Yeah when the Miami race was coming together Homestead pushed for the race but the F1 response was that the city views and proximity to the airport beat a permanent track out in the boonies.

Isnt Hard Rock at least 30 minutes from the airport and downtown/south beach?

Correct, it's in Hollywood to the North of South Beach, but closer to the track.

Remember last year's race at Imola was cancelled because of severe flooding. Yuki Tsunoda, who moved to Faenza to be closer to the team after his disastrous first season, was spotted (along with other AlphaTauri personnel) helping with cleanup.

On the off week, I watched a replay of the 2022 Imola race. It started on a damp track. It was a good race! Well except for Danny Ric taking out Sainz on the first lap. I had forgotten about that, but as soon as I saw it, I remembered how devastating that was for Sainz because it was the second race in a row that his race ended in the opening laps.

Wouldn’t it be nice if both McLaren and Ferrari were able to challenge Red Bull each week now?

Yes it would. Also, for the first time this season we will have races in consecutive weekends!

Tifosi will be out in full force this week.

Let's see if Mclaren can challenge Red Bull "each week" first.

Imola and Indy 500 qualifying, then Monaco and the Indy 500. It's gonna be a great pair of weekends!

Seeing Lando win a race and how the paddock congratulated him was awesome.

Only thing cool about it these days is quali. The race is a parade every year because the cars are too wide for the circuit and everyone knows it.

Are there rumblings around Chicago actually being on the calendar?

F1 Troll posted a joke around a calendar full of 24 US dates and in the caption put "now that Chicago is signed"

God I hope not, the three here are plenty enough.

I don’t think so. There’s probably interest from Chicago but nothing signed/planned.

Imola has been vastly improved by removing a lot of asphalt runoff with grass and gravel.

IMOLA IMPROVEMENTS.

With F1 trying to tap into the larger US market it seems inevitable, especially if the viewership numbers support it.

As long as it is a good track and in a different region of the country than what is currently on the calendar I am all for it.

A race in the northeast might be nice, not in a city but out in the country in that area.

Are any tracks in the US certified to handle F1 races currently? which ones would be the cheapest to upgrade to that level?

not sure any one is going to be willing to put of the money to build another COTA somewhere else in the US

I know I'm repeating myself multiple times over, but F1 leaving Indianapolis was a mistake that they need to correct.
