Jordan would have tied Myers if he hadn't spammed me with texts pre-election! Me and the Mrs. (no pics) rolled into vote at 7:55 and voted Myers. On the fence till the spam-cost J two votes.

I'm glad you're a serious person.

Every attorney posting in this thread is supporting Jordan Faircloth. We all practice in the 19th JDC, and have had to deal with brilliant jurists like Trudy White forever.
Meyers is an incredibly bad idea, she’s a prosecutor with no experience in civil practice being supported by the Plaintiffs’ bar. That’s why you see so many signs. Her campaign is well funded by attorneys who have a vested financial interest in seeing someone they can control in that position.
I do some plaintiffs’ work. There’s no shame in it. People have problems that they need to get solved through the courts. All I want for my clients is a fair hearing.
If you ever have a legal problem and you think you’re getting a fair hearing by someone who has been placed in a cush 6 figure job with stellar retirement and a very low chance of getting fired, by your opponents, you would be less concerned about spam text messages.
Change your vote. Put 2 more in Faircloth’s column.

Is EBR still specialized or are they split civil/criminal? If split, this is a civil court?
I shudder thinking about a career prosecutor being a civil court judge. Civil is about 50x more complicated legally than criminal. Criminal is very fact-dependent, even in the legal arguments.
Note: Jordan Faircloth is a friend of mind and we went to law school together so I'm reporting a conflict of interest, but that has nothing to do with my statements above.

Faircloth, has none, zero, nada experience as a criminal prosecutor, but twice he’s ran for judge claiming he’s tough on crime. Where’s this toughness? Where has he demonstrated he knows how to prosecute a criminal?
Judges don't prosecute criminals and a smart, experienced civil law attorney can pick up criminal procedure in about a week.
It doesn't work the same way the other way.

They moved towards a split docket spearheaded by her imminence Trudy White.
Beau Higginbotham and Kelly Balfour split their dockets, for example. I think they both now do exclusively civil.

I kind of outlined this earlier in the thread. But this is a more detailed version of the shite show.
Under LA law, Orleans Parish has a civil court and a criminal court. The rest of the parishes should have judges doing both. The 19th JDC (EBR), by agreement, created civil judges and criminal judges. I don't think anyone ever challenged the constitutionality of this agreement, to my knowledge. The judges would run for "judge" and then they would take whatever open section was available.
A decade ago, there were a few judges who were career criminal judges, but a lot of the judges would serve on the criminal bench until a civil seat opened up. I think the donations on the civil side from the plaintiffs' bar make running for re-election easier. The judge with the most seniority would get to decide whether they would take a civil or criminal docket. This created some problem because a lot of civil attorneys would not run for judge because they didn’t want to spend years on the criminal bench before moving to the civil bench. It also creates an issue when ex-prosecutors move to the civil bench with no experience doing any civil law, just because they have the seniority to move over. If I had my druthers, it would be a split docket at the 19th JDC where were could elect civil judges and criminal judges.
A few years ago, it was Beau Higginbotham’s turn, based on seniority, to move from the criminal bench to the civil bench. Some of the judges didn’t want him to get a civil section, so they gave it to a less senior judge. This resulted in a lawsuit by filed by Higginbotham against the rest of the judges.
Since that point, the 19th JDC has been an utter clown show. They’ve given a lot of the judges the ability to have a civil and a criminal docket. This includes Tiffany Foxworth Roberts, Ron Johnson, Don Johnson, Eboni Rose Johnson, William Jorden, Trudy White, and Tarvald Smith. An absolute murder’s row of legal scholars capable of understanding the intricacies of civil law. Kelly Balfour had half civil docket and half criminal docket, kept his civil half and picked up Morvant’s civil docket when Morvant retired. Wilson Fields has a civil section and has no interest in taking a criminal section. Chip Moore has an all civil docket. Higginbotham had an all criminal docket, but just took Tim Kelley’s old civil docket. Fred Crifasi, Michael McDonald, Gail Horne Ray, and Brady Myers all have entire criminal dockets. The one that pisses me off, as a defense attorney, is Brad Myers is qualified and capable of handling a civil docket, but he just has a criminal docket.
So my initial point in the thread was to point out that her declaration that she is running for "criminal judge" isn't accurate. This judge is more than likely going to do both criminal and civil. And she has no experience doing any civil law, which is the harder subject matter.

Wrong. The point is EBR GOP refused to endorse Myers because she was not a republican until last year when she changed parties to try and fool the electorate.

Here's your "conservative republican" Louise Hines Meyers.

I don’t want that.
She seems like someone who makes decisions off emotions and not the law.
I think everyone wants the biggest a$&hole, that follow the law not emotions.
FYI, no more pictures of her please.
Now I will have nightmares of the scary womanmanface.

And I swear, Trudy White's replacement, based on the voting district and how things have been going, is going to be a moron. We can't give up one of few republican seats in BR to a liberal criminal attorney with no background in civil law.
Not to say I'm prophetic, but the first candidate just announced. Reazalia Allen. She graduated law school in 2015, and most of her time since, a measly 8 years, she served as a clerk for the Honorable Trudy White. Has almost no experience as an actual attorney practicing in any area of law.
I hope EBR doesn't waste another opportunity for a good judge.

Edited to add the fact that Louise Hines Myers can’t even vote in this election since she doesn’t live in the district. The more I learn about this woman the worse it gets. Recently she tried to start a ridiculous rumor that Jordan Faircloth dressed in black face for some party decades ago. Nasty woman.
