I see Woody Jenkins today representing the “East Baton Rouge Parish Republican Party” endorsed Myers over Jordan Faircloth in the 19th JDC race.

Checking the public record, Myers has donated to federal election candidates twice in his life. Both times for Mary Landrieu in 2013. After Barack Hussein Obama won re-election, and Republicans desperately needed Senate seats, Brad Myers decided Mary Landrieu needed his money.

Myers also donated to ultra lib democrat Richard Ieyoub in the 2003 LA Governor election cycle.

Now he’s pretending to be a conservative to put a nice bow on a successful legal career. I’m sure he has the old money Baton Rouge establishment crowd on lock.

I’m supporting Jordan Faircloth and hope the conservatives of the political board are as well.

Sounds like Meyers is a complete fraud. How can someone claim to be conservative and donate money to liberals at a critical time like that. Just flat out wrong. My vote is with the young buck Faircloth.

Romney and Republican don't belong in the same sentence.

Romney is going down with Biden, Pelosi, and Kerry for their money laundering of tax payer money to their kids/fanily.

(hopefully)

Along with many other elitists.

Myers’ age only allows him to be a Judge for four years.

So, why is he running? To me, it’s an ego stroke so people will call him Judge the remainder of his life. He doesn’t want to help BR, he wants to help himself.

Vote Faircloth

My husband and I voted early for him. The other guy was also too old for us. We need to elect younger people. These old school politicians are just looking for a spot to retire in.

I guess I'm not surprised Brad Myers supported Mary Landrieu. A little surprised the only federal candidate to ever receive money from Brad Myers was Landrieu.

Having actually met with myers and faircloth (also met Racca before the primary), I found him to be the better choice. He was extremely straightforward about his opinions, immensely qualified with both extensive criminal and civil experience, and just seemed like a no-nonsense kinda guy. Faircloth was a little cagey, and refused to answer any question regarding personal beliefs other than that he was pro life. Myers will likely only be eligible to serve 1 term, so Jordan will get another crack at it before long. The vote on the PEC was almost unanimous. Myers was the better candidate.

I bet you’d find a lot of people you wouldn’t expect contributed to Landrieu. She was an absolute machine at delivering pork to Louisiana, something which has been noticeably missed with Cassidy on the hill.

Oh...I see. Nice. Well you're doing a great job representing conservative values on the PEC!

I’m not trying to excuse it. I never would have done so, but I also understand why many folks did. The state has changed a LOT politically in a short amount of time. Heck, Senator Kennedy was campaigning for John Kerry in 2004.

First off, I’m usually biased towards younger candidates. I tend to think about who’s not just the best for the job they’re running for, but what job they could be running for in 5-10 years. I often approach who to support based around building a bench for the future. Judges races have slightly different concerns, so this interest wasn’t as compelling in this race, especially since Jordan gets another bite at the apple in 4-5 years while Myers does not.

Finally, when it comes to judge races, the issues are a little different than a lot of other political offices. The most important issues are crime, judicial philosophy (texualism, formalism, equality vs equity, federalism, etc). Both candidates pledged to be tough on crime. Both seemed relatively aligned on issues regarding plaintiffs lawyers vs defense, but one of the big differences was Myers had a pretty well-thought out plan for speeding up his docket and reducing delays. The other was Myers spent many years as a federal prpsecutor while Jordan has no criminal law experience.

Jordan is in no way a bad candidate. Just seemed like he needed a little more experience with criminal law (since the 19th judges tend to have to hear both). It was discussed the possibility of endorsing them both, but we they thought it better to pick one. I didn’t see any evidence of Myers being a “plant” or a “phony”, and he has a long record of case law to back that up. He was just a slightly better candidate.

ETA: I actually voted for Jordan in early voting. If he wins, I won’t be upset. I’m just explaining why the PEC voted the way they did. If you would like to discuss it further, email me at bryndenblackfish@yahoo.com
Only 1 PEC member supported Jordan over Myers.

The endorsement isn't surprising. Myers is the clear favorite of establishment old money Baton Rouge. Faircloth is younger, would be more aggressive, less politically connected, etc.

It's a little embarrassing that Myers has never given a penny to any candidate for Congress, Senate, or President outside of Mary Landrieu. Also funny that he donated to Richard Ieyoub for Governor.

I had no idea about this but it doesn’t surprise me considering that his practice began with DOJ and ended up with Big Business.

I voted for Faircloth bc he seemed way more down to earth, and bc he was younger. This post made me glad I did.
