Justin Wells of On3 reports that former Texas defensive lineman Zac Swanson is considering transferring to LSU, where he could reconnect with Bo Davis.

Swanson, a 6-4, 282-pound lineman from Phoenix, Ariz., committed to Davis and the Longhorns 2022 class. He played in just three games over two seasons in Austin. Per SI.com:

Swanson was a highly-touted recruit in the 2022 class from Brophy College Prep in Phoenix, Arizona. He was rated as the No. 374 player nationally and the No. 48 defensive lineman in the 247Sports Composite rankings. After receiving an offer from Texas in early 2021, he committed a couple of months later, choosing the Longhorns over 15 other programs, including Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, Florida State, Oklahoma, Oregon, USC, and Utah.

Swanson redshirted in 2022, playing in the season opener against Louisiana-Monroe, where he made a solo tackle, and also in the game against UTSA, logging a total of 17 snaps. In 2023, he appeared in just one snap during the season opener against Rice. By entering the transfer portal, Swanson may be looking for more playing time or a fresh start at a different program.

He couldn't get playing time at Texas, so not sure how much help he'll be for the Tigers

And the guy that recruited him and coached him there wants him on the LSU roster. That should tell you something about the kid.

He was a sophomore. Texas had an outstanding defensive line this season. Bad analysis.

I think he can transfer in. I don't think Texas and OU are officially part of the conference until July or something like that.

He can transfer in, but cannot play this season. Texas and OU are under SEC transfer rules already.

I don’t really understand the transfer rules. I was under the impression that he would have to sit out next season because it’s a in conference transfer. I could be wrong, maybe someone else knows better?

They would have to get an exemption for him to play this season. I imagine the argument would be that his position coach left.
