Lolo Jones & Red Bull Project X
Posted by zachbreaux on 7/12/12 at 8:37 pm
Hey guys. I know Lolo Jones is a pretty hot topic right now with the Olympics coming up so I just wanted to share some relevant news. A few months ago, I was able to help out with Red Bull Project X, a secret (until now), ultra high-performance training program that took place at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium.
A team of scientists set up a course of 50 Vicon Mocap cameras, the type of 3-D motion-capture technology used in creating sports video games, to capture Lolo and relay real-time data to chief scientist Richard Kirby and functional sport expert Vern Gambetta, who then worked closely with Lolo’s longtime coach, Dennis Shaver, to interpret the data and devise methods to shave time off Lolo’s runs.
They launched an awesome web site not too long ago where you can read all about the project and watch videos from the training as well as interviews with Lolo, her coaches, and all the brains behind Red Bull Project X. Definitely worth checking out!
