Longtime Texas A&M athletic trainer Karl Kapchinski says he was forced by coaches to clear injured athletes before they were fully healed.

In an interview with Jon Frankel of HBO’s "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel", Kapchinski said that his character was questioned by coaches in regards to his job. Here is some of the interview, via the Austin American-Statesman:
quote:

JON FRANKEL: “If you said to a coach, ‘Coach, I know we said it was gonna be four weeks, but we need an extra week.’ What would the coach say to you?”

KARL KAPCHINSKI: “You would be challenged on your character, your credentials. You know, maybe you were the wrong guy for the job.”

KARL KAPCHINSKI: “There’s been a lotta great quality athletic trainers that have subsequently lost their jobs because they stood up for the players or were doing the right thing.”
Kapchinski was fired by the school in 2013 after 31 years of working for the athletic department.

Not sure his story is credible.

Oh, look. A recent longhorn grad wrote an article about a trainer who was fired and used his bitterness to smear A&M on the week before signing day. Shocker.

Okay - so this wasn't the hit piece by the recent longhorn grad. This was a hit piece in an Austin newspaper.

Oh, well recruits need to think long and hard about going to TA&M. They don't care about the players.

The Texas fans Commenting must have forgotten about David Ash and J. Gray.

He was fired for spending way too much time around the football program and ignoring his duties to other sports, among other things. All of the information is open source and easy to find by a non-lazy reporter.

Wow you mean they didn't admit to firing him because he wouldn't put the coaches wishes in front of player safety? Of course they would make it look like he was to blame. If not for everything else going on I'd be skeptical but this is not the first shady thing to happen around Sumlin.
