Auburn defensive back Jonathon Mincy managed to get himself thrown out of Auburn’s A-Day game for an illegal hit on a teammate. Mincy was officially ejected for ‘targeting.’ Targeting is a new NCAA enacted rule for 2013 which will eject any player who is flagged for a helmet-to-helmet hit.

legit tackle. Hit him in the chest. No head involvement. Its football. vagina's need not apply. These rules are ruining the game Oh, and I hate Auburn.

Just wait until a big time player does this and gets ejected causing his team to lose a close game. Fans will be screaming for a rule change.

I'm confused. Targeting = hard hit?

The only trouble with this play is that he went hard on a teammate. The hit itself was fine. Hockey gets more and more attractive as more of this gets called.

If that's the common standard for "targeting" that results in ejections, we're in for a long fricking season of bullshite.

Good, clean hit. I can understand Auburn fans being upset with hitting that hard on a teammate in a spring game, but it is what it is. The only reason the WR was hurt was because of the way he landed. The DB should not have been penalized, and especially not ejected.
