Ex-Georgia QB Aaron Murray Almost Quit Football Because Of Nick Fairley’s Dirty Hits
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports
While on the 3 Man Front show on WJOX, former Georgia QB Aaron Murray talked about the Bulldogs 2010 game against Auburn where he suffered a fractured sternum and serious whiplash. He said because of the dirty hits from Auburn's Nick Fairley, he almost quit football entirely...
quote:

“If he did that outside the football field, he’d have been in jail for three years. … That was actually the first time in my life I was like ‘I don’t know if I want to play football anymore.’ I’m not kidding either,” Murray recalled. “I was on the sideline, and I had six stitches; my jersey’s covered in blood; I had a fractured sternum and can’t feel the left side of my body. I got whiplash in my neck, and I can’t really move my neck. I was like ‘Is this really worth it? It’s my freshman year, I can quit now and save myself a lot of punishment.’

“I had to sit up sleeping the next two weeks. I couldn’t even lay down. It was tough.”

I hate Georgia. But Fairley was crazy dirty. I also know many of you here have the athletic build of a truck driver, and would quite literally die if you took some of the hits delivered at that level. Took a hit from Landon Collins in a high-school spring tournament once and it's just different that caliber athlete. shite hurts.

Y'all wouldn't be hating on Fairley if he was on your team destroying the opposing QB. It's football and guess what it's a violent sport, if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen.

People from other fan bases actually have these things called "standards"

You do have high standards when it comes to corndogs.

You're right. Nobody would be hating on a player destroying another teams player provided they are good clean hits. Not some of the shite that Fairley or that offensive lineman from Miss. State that jumped on LSU defensive players a few years back had a habit of doing.

Isn’t it a badge of honor for a DL to make QBs want to quit football???

These comments warm my heart. 2010 was the season that the rest of the SEC deserved.

Fairley sure looked tough squirming on the ground with Ben Jones on top of him in that retribution play Richt allowed in garbage-time..

And yet you don't have an interview of him crying like a bitch about being in a football game.

Fairley = the perfect shite stain rep for the entire auburn football program. A useless human being enabled as a hero by a fan base with no standards. Not at all surprising aubs - and may you never change.

Lol yea Ben Jones is a real man. Get that arse whooped all day and jump on top of a guy laying on the ground after making yet another tackle.

Ben Jones spent the day getting his arse beat. Honestly, it was embarrassing. he owed Murray for the arse whipping he took.
