Wife and I road tripping Kansas to Florida next Week
Have a wedding to go to in Florida. Wife and I decided to rent a car and road trip the whole way. Initially looked at renting an RV, but the milage limits make that entirely out of the question. This is the itinerary below. We won't have tons of time to stop, but looking for good local restaurants/coffee shops/bars in the following spots. Any road trip advice much appreciated as well. Excited but also know it will be a drag at times.

Day 1 - Kansas to Nashville, TN (10.5 hours)
Day 2 - Nashville, TN to Savannah, GA (8 hours)
Day 3 - Savannah, GA to St Augustne via i95/A1A (2 hours)
Day 4 - St Augustine Beach (Wedding)
Day 5 - St Augustine to New Orleans (8hours)
Day 6 - New Orelans to Little Rock (7 hours)
Day 7 - Little Rock to Home (6 Hours)

You will be spending the whole week in your car. Unless it is a wedding you can't miss, I would miss it if I couldn't fly.

Its funny because it feels like Kansas to Nashville would be 2 times the distance than Nashville to Savannah

For a road trip that long?

Always keep a gun on your person, because either your wife is going to kill you or the other way around. You may as well be the one to survive.

I would skip the St Aug part of that trip
It's nothing special in my opinion and it's too far out of the way.

If going to New Orleans after I would change that leg from Savannah to Destin/30A instead.

Also, I would skip Little Rock and either hit up Hot Springs area or around Fayeteville instead. Better places to eat and stay.

I’m guessing from his OP that the wedding is in St Aug

St Augustine has some decent independent coffeeshops: Kookaburra (several locations), Crucial, Growers Alliance.

Correct, wedding is in St. Aug. This was originally a week long vacation in June with the kids to go to the wedding, Disney World, Beach, and visit family. Covid obviously changed that.

Wife and I are almost 30. 2 kids under 4. Fortunately have some grandparents willing to watch them. Took a week off and we're going to plot our way down there. I know the road trip portion will suck, but it's not often 2 people in our position get a chance to take a week off and do whatever.

All are such a long haul that it likely won't even matter by the time he gets to any of those places.

Always check ahead on COVID 19 status regarding bars. Most restaurants are open albeit at 50% capacity. Lot of outdoor dining going on too.

Some of my favorites in or around the down town area:

5th and Taylor

Chauhan Ale & Marsala

East Nashville:

Lou

Other reviews.

People always ask about BBQ here. I just think it's kind of average so not worth the time IMHO.

All the more reason to fly and spend that time doing things other than driving.

Yea if I had a free week to “do whatever” I don’t think I’d spend it driving 6-7 hours a day

Not sure what to recommend in New Orleans ... plenty of places are closed due to COVID and the crazy restrictions. District Donuts is good for a quick bite & some coffee. Parkway Tavern for poboys ... I think it's only to-go right now, though. If you want to do something kind of fancy, and a little expensive ... then Clancy's uptown ... but you probably need reservations and parking is a pain in the rear.

"IF" you are driving through Baton Rouge, stop at Eliza Restaurant on Jefferson Highway ... it has New Orleans style food in a very nice atmosphere. There's outdoor seating as well (but it's hot as hell down here, so why anyone wants to sit outside is beyond me)

Have fun!!!

Are you going to quarantine for 14 days on return to Kansas? Most of my relatives are in Kansas so I've run into that one. I didn't see any evidence of it being enforced. But I'd keep quiet with anyone who may want to bust you.

I do intend to. Fortunately working from home makes that much easier.

Savannah is my hometown, so I can recommend some places.

Since you have a shortish trip down to St Augustine the next day, stay downtown and enjoy the riverfront. Go eat somewhere like The Shrimp Factory and walk along River Street. Get dessert at Leopold's Ice Cream on Broughton St.

Bonus- it's legal to open carry alcohol in a plastic cup in Savannah. Only place in the state of Georgia you can do that.
