re: What is your favorite ski town and why?
My grandparents had a vacation home in Telluride so I've spent more winters and summers there than I could count, so it will always be my #1. With that said, its a pain in the arse to get to especially if TEX is closed and you have to divert to Montrose.

Now that we have kids I prefer Breck due to its easy access and layout. The wife (no pics) prefers BC (not the BBC). She doesn't ski due to a bad knee (plenty of jokes here) so there is more for her to do in BC than Breck.

Crested Butte is nice. Probably one of the most authentic mountain towns. Mostly locals on the mountain. I think the only national brand you'll find in town is an ACE hardware. Heading there next week

Steamboat is probably the best I've been to for bringing a family.
Can't really beat flying into Hayden.

Whistler has been the best for adult trips.
PC wasn't bad as a mixed group.
The rest were more of a pure ski trip.

I've also been to Winter Park, Keystone, ABasin, and Copper.

Probably going to BC next trip.
With Breck/Vail/Heavenly/and JH next on the list.
I'll likely go back to Steamboat to teach my kids.

Hayden lands a lot more flights than other mountain airports. Show your boarding pass the same day at the ticket window for free night skiing that night. Only about 20-30 minutes from the airport to the mountain. 12 cities fly direct during the winter.

It really makes Steamboat an accessible family spot. But its still tucked away from the front range so it's more of a true ski/ranching town than the I-70 corridor.

Park City - Access, town feel, size of the mountain/resort, variety of terrain, the upper class feel of the area, the people that frequent the place, etc.

oh and this place

I've been to a ton of ski resorts, and I've yet to find a better nighttime spot than the No Name in Park City. Imagine Bogies but in a badass mountain town.

i love copper. it was my first mountain though. breck and winterpark are great ski in and ski out locations. aspen and vail are considered “expensive” — we have a house out there in summit county, so i don’t really know about that. keystone has a great nightlife. karaoke bar at the base, and the night skiing is awesomeeeee + the gondolas! beavercreek and steamboat have good restaurants and easy transportation. crested butte has always had terrible powder every time i’ve gone. telluride was fun, but i went with LSU. a. basin has a seriously intense and awesome bowl. it destroyed me. i loved it. hope that helps.

Has anyone been to Big Sky and Bridger Bowl Montana? I'm trying to book a group trip next year for my hometown friends. It will need to be budget and beginner friendly. It looks like Bridger Bowl may not have much for beginners but I'm not sure about Big Sky.

Bridger is outside Bozeman, whereas Big Sky is more of a town on its own.

Both of them have big mountain terrain. Big Sky probably more beginner friendly. Bridger more budget friendly.

I like copper for ease of getting around the base. Keystone for the mountain, nitelife. Steamboat for overall.

If you just look at speed of lifts, then Gudauri for sure

I am currently a Crested Butte fan.

Had enough of the large mountains, like the small town charm.

Park City/Deer Valley/The Canyons in Utah.

Best.Snow.Ever.

In-laws live on a 440 acre ranch on the backside of the Wasatch Mountains behind the resorts and the Provo River runs through the middle of their land.

Free place to stay. Great views. Awesome trout fishing.

What's not to love about it?

Big Sky has something for everyone. It’s the biggest resort in the lower 48.

Bridger is fun, but it’s usually crowded with locals.

Big Sky doesn’t get crowded.
