What is your all-time favorite hiking trail?
Posted by PNW on 3/6/18 at 9:05 am111
Our national parks have among the best trails in the world. Aside from the AT, CDT, and PCT what is your favorite?
Mine is the 17.7 mile Dawson Pitamakan trail in Glacier. It’s the only true loop inside the park, and offers some awesome views of glacier peaks and alpine lakes. The wildlife you encounter on the trail is great too. At nearly 18 miles, it takes a good full day to finish.

Chilkoot trail. So much history, extremely varied terrain, includes parts of the US and Canada.
Goes from tidewater through coastal rainforest into the alpine, then boreal forests. The border lakes are spectacular.
At Lake Bennett you can take the train back to Skagway Ak through the White Pass and not have to hike back 30 miles.

I remember learning about what those prospective gold miners had to go through when in AK 29 years ago. Truly brutal!

Yeah each miner had to carry a ton of food so they had to make many trips
Dyea is a ghost town now but the snow slide cemetary is an interesting places
At lake Bennett they'd wait for the Ice to go out, build boats and float the Yukon up to Dawson City
It's a fascinating story

Pemigewasset Loop in the White Mountains of New Hampshire
I don't have much desire to head east but I've read about this loop of trails and it's on the long list.

I need to get into better shape and finally do the Presidential range traverse. Those mountains are brutal hiking. The trails go over every peak.
I want to hike the Oregon Coast trail soon. It’s time to explore something other than mountains for a trip.
Wind River range coming next though.

Not so much a particular trail, but hiking around the Lauterbrunnen Valley in Switzerland was quite something. I am not a member of pic hosting site, so here's a stock image.

I hiked Angel’s Landing for the first time back in October with my brother. It was a good hike, but very crowded.

I did the Mist Trail but since I am not a hiker it was "taxing" to say the least.
I've done the Mist Trail. It's a great trail and certainly not easy.

My favorite was the four mile to glacial point, panoramic trail, then back down the mist trail in Yosemite. On the way up to glacial point only saw four other hikers, but glacial point itself and the mist trail were packed. Panoramic trail was also pretty colors of people. If you are in Yosemite and want to get away from people just hit the harder trails.
