Yes--that's a road trip must, to me. I've got one that fits behind the passenger seat, perfectly in the foot well space. I also carry one of those grocery store foil "cold bags" in a seat back pocket.

Apps

Specifically TripIt app. It’s free and syncs with your email. Once you get a confirmation it imports into the app and all the relevant data - times, location, confirmation number, etc.

Even has airport info for you and nearby places if you want to play with that. Keeps all your trips separate and logs them when you are done for Reference later if someone asks for recs. I use it exclusively instead of dozens of email confirmations.

If you're traveling as a couple, and you're on a flight with any 3 seat configuration, book a window and aisle in a row toward the back. There's less of a chance someone will select the middle, unless of course the flight is full.

If someone does end up in the middle, just ask to switch.

Or DON'T ask to switch, and you don't have to listen to your wife for a few hours....

Carry large clothes pin(s) or office clip(s) to help keep the blinds/drapes closed in the hotel room to keep out light

When we're on fly-then-drive trips with rental cars (we see a lot of National Parks that way) I always pack a tote bag style soft cooler in my suitcase to use in the car.

same but we pack a soft sided cooler full of bulky items like shoes and then ship it ahead of us to a nearby ups store. When we get ready to go home, pack it up again and ship it home

the RTIC cooler I have has been on road trips in every western state so far as except Arizona and NM

If traveling overseas on a 8+ day trip, try to stay away from cotton underwear/socks. I usually only pack 4 sets of wool socks and moisture wicking underwear. You can wash your dirty clothes at the hotel/hostel and the wool/moisture wicking material will dry overnight. It really saves space in the bag and are lighter. Also, always carry multiple battery packs to charge your phone because you never know when you will have time to charge your phone.

Another thing you can do is buy a backpack cooler if you are flying somewhere, but need a cooler. I have the Engel backpack cooler and I used it as my under seat bag. When I got to my destination, I just took everything out and put it in a small bag, and used the backpack cooler at the beach.
