People that have been to D.C. what do y'all recommend doing while there. What museums are the best to check out while being there for only a short time?

Here are some random thoughts:
I enjoyed Ford’s Theatre more than I thought I would.
Go to the observation tower in the old Post Office for one of the best views while the Washington Monument is closed. YouTube the directions - it’s run by the Park Service.
Get a Metro pass and use it on the DC Circulator bus to get around the Mall. The buses are cheap and air conditioned.
Go to your Congressman or Senator’s website asap and ask for White House tour tickets.
Download the Citymapper app!

If u fly in/out of Dulles, the Udvar Hazy Air and Space Museum (an annex of the Smithsonian) is hard to beat. Natural Hx, National Archives, Air/Space Museum on the Mall, Wash Navy Yard, Supreme Court, Libray of Congress, Holocaust Museum are all great,

The International Spy Museum is interesting but it is private and cost about $14 to $21.
The Capitol is worth a visit.
But, if I only had time for one it would be the Air and Space Museum. However, have not been to the Holocaust Museum.
Next would be the Jefferson & Lincoln Memorials and Vietnam War Wall. Then Arlington Cemetery.
There is a lot to see there and a lot of walking; and traffic.
