I'm going to DC for the weekend. Any tips or recommendations for restaurants/ sightsees/ museums that are must do? We are going to a Nats game while we are there, so any suggestions around the park are also welcomed. TIA.

Several years ago we did a Monuments at Night tour. While we've toured the various monuments before, seeing them at night was unique. The Korean war memorial was particularly haunting.

Hit up Mission before the game for food and drinks. Awesome Mexican spot that is a block away with outdoor seating, etc. Go to The Wharf which is a quick uber trip from Navy Yard or about a 15-20 minute walk. Or better yet live that Scooter life and scoot down. I wouldn’t walk it at night but definitely would be fine during the day. Georgetown waterfront and Georgetown as a whole would be good to visit as well.

Logan Circle
U St.
14th St

Can’t go wrong with any of these areas for food and drinks.

It's been several years but we did brunch at Founding Farmers and it was really good.

Arlington Cemetery is a must-do. I believe the Changing of the Guard is every 30 minutes during the summer.

Air and Space Museum is my favorite Smithsonian Museum.

National Archives is cool as shite.

Holocaust Museum is also high on my list.

Make sure to do the Flight Simulator. It's f*cking awesome. But, make sure that you take the controls! I had my 6'4", 230 lb. brother crying like a little girl.

Museum of American History is the next best.

Hit as many museums and monuments that you can. Arlington Cemetery was breathtaking. The metro was super easy to navigate. We were there for 4 days and still didn’t get to see everything we wanted to see. It was a bucket list trip for my wife and I and by far our favorite place we’ve traveled. So much to see and do.

I would definitely take a little time to study the Metro system right before you go and to look and see if there are any station outages. The last time we went to D.C., the Arlington Cemetery station was out and we had to Uber it over there.

But, the Metro is definitely easier to navigate than the Subway in NYC. You don't have to worry about getting "locals" as the trains typically stop at every station on the map. Also, it's color coded and there aren't as many lines.

Metro Map

As I recall, there's also an App that will tell exactly how long you will have to wait for the next train.

We were in DC in May & the Arlington Cemetery station was closed but I looked on the Metro app and it appears to be open now. At that time there were many COVID protocols in effect but that was to change in late May and become less restrictive.

Don't show up at the CIA to go to the museum without doing the process ahead of time. They aren't very nice about it. That being said, the NSA museum right outside the Big 4 is really cool. The Russians gifted us a pice of Powers' U2 and it is there
