Utah Suggestions - Moab, Arches, Zion, Bryce
I've made a few posts recently looking for suggestions on areas to visit and we've decided on Utah. So now I'm looking for more suggestions on what to do once we're there. We have kids ages 4 & 8. I think we are going to fly into Vegas on June 26 and we will drive over to Moab that day. After spending a few nights in Moab we will start working our way back towards Vegas where we fly back home on Sunday, July 5. We plan to spend a few nights in the Zion & Bryce Areas.

Any more specific suggestions? Places to eat? Places to see? I would like to do a rafting trip although I know we'll have trouble finding a place that will let our 4 year old hop on. We did a family float trip last year in Buena Vista, Colorado that she absolutely loved. So looking for something along those lines.

Thanks in advance.

Mild to Wild rafting in Moab has easy rafting for the younger kids on the Colorado river.

Also, we are heading to Zion and Bryce the first week of June. I will have an update of the area soon.

Moab and Virgin/La Verkin area are both going to have good ATV/Razr/rockcrawler tours. Zion is going to be a mad house, especially if they don't open up the bus system by then. Lots of great hiking around St. George. Food scene isn't fantastic in Utah... but the scenery is unbeatable.

Outside of Salt Lake maybe. I found the food scene in Salt Lake surprisingly good.

I think Park City is likely good as well. Moab might not be bad either. I haven't been in a while. The area around Zion was pretty poor, though we didn't eat in Springdale which is like the "ski village" of Zion. It might not be bad.

But Hurricane/la Verkin/St. George was poor.

The restaurant choices on Trip Advisor for Springdale looked surprisingly good

Springdale is a neat place. Food options there are not going to blow you away, but they aren’t awful either. Everything seems oriented on the main drag through. There’s a brew pub that’s the last place before you hit the park. A decent pizza place that pitches a “beer garden” (it wasn’t really) sort of smack in the middle. And a Mexican place in a really nice grassy setting right on the outer edge. I can’t remember the name of any and don’t care to bother looking them up.

There’s other places in between, but those were the three we hit. Nothing was memorable or stood out culinarily (definitely nothing in a bad way either), but you’re in the middle of Zion’s glory, so not much is going to stand out from that.

Just booked a trip from Vegas to SLC hitting up the parks. We are going from June 10-18. Hope 9 days is enough and enough things are open and it's not too crowded. Look forward to reading this thread over the next couple of weeks.

(That Vegas to SLC link posted was my recap, not sure I have much more to add that isn't in that link)

I know you didn't mention it, but while in Moab you should definitely go through Canyonlands NP. It's clustered in there with Arches in the Moab area. We didn't spend long, but the views a short walk from the parking areas were killer.

We also enjoyed our hike in Capitol Reef. That was very cool and there was an area of "narrows" that was a fun walk without the cold high water issue of The Narrows in Zion. Plus there is a little store that sells individual pies in CR. This picture was from my recap in Capitol Reef, but I like it since my family is in the picture in the distance. It shows how the pictures don't really do the stature of these places justice.

The drive between Capitol Reef and Bryce through Boulder is amazing. Lots of places in that southern half of Utah feel like an alien landscape. Just stunning. I'm excited for anyone making that trip.

Pasta Jay's is pretty solid Italian, or was many years ago when I was in Moab.

There is barely anything around Bryce canyon food wise, basically just a diner which had solid but nothing amazing food.
