I am looking at taking the wife and kids to Utah in November. We've never been out west and we have a specific couple of things we want to see in Utah. However, those are half day things. We are not skiers. I tore my ACL in '13 and the wife just has no interest. The kids may. How are the national parks in November?

If you don't mind colder temps, I'd highly recommend visiting them that time of year. Crowds are much smaller. WE went to Zion and St.George/Virgin area (we were mountain biking as well) over New Year's this last year. We only had one day where it was uncomfortably cold, and that was mainly because we were up zion canyon really early in the shade and wind. The weather was pretty amazing the rest of the time.

Zion NP Weather Averages
Search for weather averages for the parks you want to visit, and add 7-10 degrees to the listed temperatures because of the lack of humidity if you're coming from the south. Just dress in layers, have good socks, and get a good toboggan and you'll be fine in any weather day or night. The shoulder seasons are the only time I visit any of the National Parks (I live here).
