Well American is being a pain in the arse. Supposed to fly home from BR to Boston on monday, but I’m obviously not going to Louisiana now. They won’t let me cancel and get a voucher because the travel advisory only goes to Sunday. Fml.

Hang up, call again.

Or wait another day or so until they extend that advisory out

I loved when this happened, basically shows how much a plane can really handle. And also how shitty nyc airports are in a small tstorm with 3 hr delays

Eta: Abita, would recommend what golfer suggests re American. Also not surprised AA is being difficult (hence why i switched to delta). Take the cancellation on DL and wait for AA to extend the waiver. Or call back again now and see if another agent gives you sympathy. If they dont you eat the cost for half the ticket.

If I hadn’t canceled my flight sure. Assuming you’re cool with dogs that will 100% sleep in the bed with you.

Thanks Golfer and Cuse. I’m going to sit tight and call tomorrow. Freaking AA.

Man we have enjoyed our week here a lot. You answered some Boston questions earlier this year for me on here and I greatly appreciate it. You pointers on the Definitive Boston thread helped a lot.

When we come back I'll owe you a beer or two

Glad to hear it! It was hot here by Boston standards this week but overall good weather for your stay. Come back any time and we’ll grab a beer.

Warms my heart hearing how easy AA is to deal with. Only booked them bc the flight to Billings was 3 hours less trip time than on other airlines. My son and I are booked to fly out of BTR Sunday morning, trying to decide when to pull the trigger on other options.

I posted this on another thread, but this looks like the appropriate place.

I have a Southwest nonstop flight from Orlando to MSY Sunday morning, landing in MSY at 10:05 AM. Any chance of this happening?

I considered trying to catch a flight out this afternoon but that may be too late?

Get out today if you can, otherwise sunday afternoon looks better than sunday am. What time sunday morning? If its a 6 or 7am flight, the plane wont get in saturday night i bet meaning youll be cancelled

Try for southwest 2129 this afternoon if possible (430pm), the 10pm flight is already cancelled. You will be better sunday than tomorrow if you cant get on today

So my parents live in Grosse Tete (west side of the River) and were supposed to fly out of Baton Rouge tomorrow morning at 6:00 a.m. for Dallas and that flight it cancelled.

They put them on a 2:12 flight out of BR but thats clearly going to get cancelled too. Any chance the night flights out of BTR take off tomorrow? Or the Sunday morning flights?

I see there are flights out of Lafayette to Dallas all day tomorrow, would it be better for them to try to switch to one of those or is that the same storm path?

I'm trying to deal with changing their flights because they aren't tech saavy enough to look at all the options online. They seem to be thinking the Sunday morning flights out of BR will go off without a problem but I'm not so sure (mainly them being able to even drive to the airport)

Made it safe. Pretty easy going until we hit 4200ft on the landing. Rough from there on out

Sorry for the delay in responding, busy day and first chance I've had to sit down.

I wouldn't trust anything out of Laffy or Baton Rouge tomorrow that they rebooked them on. Sunday you'd want to go with later day if possible. Still looks like winds will be bad tomorrow night, meaning all the 6/7am flights on sunday will be cancelled. Everything is cancelled to Nola tomorrow as well on American.

Do your parents need to travel this weekend or can they wait until like Monday morning?

Sunday looks like 18mph south steady winds around 9am instead of the 26-40mph winds on saturday. Planes can land in that and MSY has a good N/S runway for this wind. Would say you have a good shot at your flight going pending how severe the storm is
