Trip to UK- Stay in Edinburgh or Glasgow
Posted by Dr. 3 on 9/28/17 at 3:36 pm00
We have 3 nights in Scotland and are trying to decide on either Edinburgh or Glasgow to stay while daytripping to the other during the Christmas break.
Any thoughts on each cities and which one you would prefer staying would be appreciated. Also would like any thoughts about other things to see there. We are definitely going to the Highlands.

Edingburgh is a really cool city. Between the castle, walking the Royal Mile, hiking up Arthur's Seat, and just generally walking the city I had a great time. Very scenic city and one of my favorites in Europe.
I've never been to Glasgow. The people I know who who've been to Glasgow were kinda meh on it but that's second hand.

Glasgow is better as a base to explore the highlands. And only if you use it as a stop for your train or plane. Edinburgh is a destination itself.
3 days gives you virtually no time to explore (other than a long day trip to Loch Ness), so I'd pick Edinburgh.
