My little guy just turned 3 and will be starting school in the fall. Want to take him on a nice vacation before then. 2k budget for the 2 of us. We've gone to Disney twice. Looking for different. Thanks in advance.

I like your style. Ball out every other weekend and show him his mom fricked up.

A beach somewhere. Let him run around.

Tailoring a vacation around a toddler is a waste of time and money. It may make you feel good, but it's not doing anything for the kid.

Rent a cute puppy and take him to a nice sandy beach. Tell the ladies it was his favorite thing to do... before mommy passed.

I have to go with speedy here. So what if it “does nothing” for the little one as long as it does something for dad.

OP - what about somewhere it’s nice to be outdoors like California or Colorado?

Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. Kind of cheesy but it was made for kids/families. I was a single dad for years and brought my kids there twice. They loved it.

My little one is 4 about to be 5 and she has been to orange Beach, Portland, Maine, and Colorado. She still talks about them all so my guess is she remembers and enjoyed them.

Can't get into Kindergarten unless you pass PK3, PK4 and PK5.

Sesame Place - it’s a Sesame Street theme park. Everything is geared to his age group. It’s right outside Philadelphia so you can enjoy it as well.

Not really a vacation per se but little kids love aquariums. Petting zoo?

What about camping in the Smokey Mountains. It's nice and cool at night, but plenty warm enough during the day to enjoy the streams. Take him on some "easy goes it" trails. My 3 and 1 year old enjoyed it.
