This new free texting during flights is going to end up with me being arrested

I'm seriously about to fricking lose it with poors who are too stupid or inconsiderate to put their damn iPhones on silent - the constant "DING!" "DING!" "DING!" is seriously my biggest pet peeve.
What's more, when I ask people to please turn their ring tone off, more times than not they or others act like I'm the a-hole.
And I shouldn't say just "poors" it happened in first class last week and is just now happening again in Comfort Plus.

OP is referring to a few airlines offering free in flight texting.

Bahaha you think you’re above other people because you are in a better seat on a public plane.
You’re basically a white man on a bus in the 1950s. Congrats on sitting at the front, but it’s not your vehicle.
If you want perfection in your travel, get your own plane.

They aren't acting...

Sure, but let's not pretend having your phone bing every text isn't being rude as shite.
That drives me crazy on my own phone and I turn it to silent if I'm having a conversation. I guess some people have a higher tolerance than I do.

You just wanted to tell us you flew first class last week.

I agree it's rude as shite but coming to td to cry about it is a little bit much.

I disagree with this.
OP is right. There are basic rules of society that people should be considerate enough to follow. Phones constantly going off is no different than kicking and shoving the seat in front of you, being loud and obnoxious etc where you make the experience for other people less than ideal.
Not like you have tons of things going on in-flight where you can't glance at your phone every now and then to see if you have any new texts to where you have to keep the thing on full blast.

I think the reason for OP to include that detail was because people flying First Class are assumed to be more experienced in flying and/or cultured and therefore more considerate of others. Like if this happened on a Spirit flight, I am sure it would be the pretty low down on the worst things to have happened on that flight.

Why is it so hard for people to keep their grubby arse feet covered and in their shoes for a flight

Agreed, but it's not worth me giving it a second thought when I have the remedy in a set of headphones.
Don't have time to worry about sh!t like that.

I so agree about the bare feet. Fine to take off your shoes, but non-odiferous socks are a must.
Noise is always a problem on planes, whether it is the text chime, crying children, or blabbing people who can't seem to modulate their voices. Noise cancelling headphones fix all of this stuff.
But it's sort of funny to me: a recent thread on this board was filled with advocates of ultra-casual attire in business class. Only a tiny minority advocated wearing "grownup" clothes, claiming that such a thing was clearly trying too hard.
Frankly, I think everyone is more comfortable when we all make a little effort to be considerate of those around us. Cover your feet, brush your teeth, wear deodorant, try to use your indoor voice. Wear clothes that are neat & clean, not smelly; don't expose more flesh than a stripper taking the stage. If you can't lift your suitcase into the overhead unassisted, put fewer things into it (exceptions for the elderly, pregnant, and very short). Don't get drunk, keep your hands to yourself.....
The latest bit of "me, me" behavior I witnessed on a Delta flight: older (than me) lady in front of me was PO'd because whoever booked her ticket ordered a "Hindu" meal for her. She wasn't Hindu, and the meal was vegetarian. She had a mini fit, telling the cabin attendant that she wasn't Hindu, she didn't order such a thing, etc. The attendant said she would see if she could find an extra meal for her in lieu of the vegetarian one; lo, she returns with the chicken entree. The damn lady then asked for seconds; attendant points out that there aren't dozens of extra meals in the galley, but that she could bring her some cheese & crackers if she was still hungry. Lady scarfs the snack, then shuts up for a while. She proceeded to repeat this same scene for *every*single*service during the 9.5 hour flight. Wrong snack, substitute snack, request for second one. Wrong breakfast, substitute breakfast, request for extra breakfast...all the way to the arrival ice cream cup and hot towel.
She was apparently on the first leg of a much longer flight; the awesome Delta flight attendant who had patiently dealt with her through the flight came over again just before we deplaned and gently explained: you have four more flight segments...it isn't likely that you will be given extra food on these segments, you should consider purchasing snacks or other food in the airport before you board your next flight. At that point, I wanted to hug the flight attendant; she was a total pro through the whole thing.

I remember that thread. Dealing with commercial airlines is bad enough. The inconsiderate people who are also flying make it much worse.

Because a segment of our population are unhinged, obnoxious, self-absorbed d-bags and they aren't about to change.
We are f*cked.

I'm not sure how these two things are related. While one is a complete matter of choice that in no way affects any other person around you, the other is something that does annoy or impede another person's decent experience.
Imo, phones should be kept on silent in any public setting. If one would lower your voice when having a conversation on a plane, I don't see how that person cannot see the problem in phones going off.

Seeing the purple, wound-covered feet of some obese diabetic in flip flops certainly impedes my decent experience.

Sure it does.
Couple weeks ago I was on a flight where the person behind me took their shoes off to lay across 3 seats (this is in economy). It was 4 hours of hell with the most repulsive and repugnant odor.
But I was talking about dressing well in business class compared to phone constantly going off.
