Looking to book a ski trip for Mardi Gras. Not a family trip. Been doing research and landed on Steamboat. Anyone here have good/bad experiences?

Live here and I love it. February is a good time to be here. Pretty mellow month as far as crowds go.
We aren't the biggest night life ski town, but there's bars and music to be listened to around town. Apres ski scene at the base is pretty solid. Mardi Gras usually brings a concert to the base area.

Went there in April. Have friends there. Liked it, didn't love it. Snowboarded.
That's all I got.

By April last year, things had gotten pretty rough snow wise.
I was skiing ABasin a bunch. But I had some good slush days at Steamboat. Our elevation gave us more rain than snow in April. That's the way she goes sometimes.

It's one of my favorite ski spots. Great snow, not crowded. Best lessons I've taken.
There is a pretty good split of the different levels of terrain. Not far from the airport.
I think everyone needs to make a stop in SS at least once.

Not far from airport, not too crowded, and good food and drink at the base. It's on the smaller side, but I still really enjoy steamboat, we've been going there for our trip the past 3 years. I think there have been 1-2 days in the last 3 years where I felt it was crowded in the lines, but if you're rolling in the singles line you won't have a problem at all.

Been to steamboat many times and love it. Would highly recommend.

Where do y'all recommend lodging that is ski in/ski out, but yet is close to the mountain village shops? I couldn't really tell by the map on their website. I was looking for a condo for 6 folks. Thanks.

If you are going to ski, you'll have a hoot. Big mountain with good terrain and lots of snow usually. Enough places to eat and drink to have fun but not get crazy. If you are going to party then maybe hit Breck or Aspen, Steam boat is fun but not a do blow all night town.

Get adjoining rooms at the Sheraton. They are turning them into time shares but not done yet. Its a nice hotel with big rooms and shops all around. We get a hook up there so thats where we have always stayed. The guy who runs the spa there grew up in BR and is as good a dud e as you'll ever meet.

Bear Claw condos and Storm Meadows condos are friendly to the wallet.
Edgemont condos, Sheraton Villas and the Steamboat Grand are pricier.

Torian Plum is a good location. As well as Kutuk. Both in Ski Times Square adjacent to base area.

steamboat is my favorite place in the country to visit...but I like to hit it during the summer for fly fishing, etc.
it is basically just a small ranching town that has a ski mountain and associated resturants/hotels.
If you are looking for a major party scene, you should probably go to one of the larger resorts that are closer in to Denver...but if you want a damn pleasant town to hang around, I would chose steamboat in a heartbeat.

If bamafan425 lives there, I'd listen to whatever he says. He's the equivalent of Abitafan08 being our go-to for Boston info.

Some of y'all have some better insight on lodging since you've stayed there and know prices but I like to throw any additional info out there that might be useful.
I'd rank Bear Claw/Edgemont as best ski-in/ski-out location. Right next to night skiing laps. True ski in ski out. Locker rooms next to snow. They are both really nice places.
I work for a ski rental delivery service and happy to help with rentals for anybody throughout the season. Ski Butlers.

Big thanks for all the responses. Booked it yesterday. Not sure if any of y'all are planning on making the trip, but the Steamboat.com website is offering 30% off of lodging, lifts, and rentals if you book before September.
Granted I didn't check to see if the discount is offered during Mardi Gras. We had to book the first week in March due to schedule conflicts.

Be on the look out for their 3 day pass for $149. It should be coming up in the next couple weeks. You seriously can't beat that deal. It does have blackout dates during the Christmas season.

bamafan425 - interested in getting more info about the SS area from you since you seem to be the board expert. Can I contact you to get specific info?
