Steamboat - first time

0Planning to take the family skiing for Mardi Gras and wife has settled on Steamboat. Have a few questions. How is it for first time skiing? (Wife not kids have ever skied and I am not great). Other stuff to do? Any recommendations? Restaurant recs? Kids are 8&11 if that matters.

Strawberry hot springs is a must if you can get the kids over there. If not, the local hot springs in town is more kid friendly.

My family and I were there 2nd week of December right after their first big snow. My young adult children had a good time on the snow and the wife (no pics) and I enjoyed the town. Carl's Tavern has a great selection of Bourbon. Sunpie's Bistro is a cool /fun place. Like a lot of places there are many hidden treasures that you just have to get out and about to find. People there were great. I want to go back.

on 12/29/21 at 4:53 pm to GITiger66We will be there for Mardi Gras also. Already got the kids signed up for ski school for one day as refresher. Most of the restaurants are a bus ride downtown but not sure how they are with Covid restrictions

on 1/4/22 at 8:40 pm to HoustonGumbeauxGuyTomahawk run was awesome. I got there towards the end of the day yesterday, and wish I would have started there sooner. Really fun cruising run with rolling hills.
Also, had a top dining experience at a newer restaurant called Sauvage. Fantastic 6 course tasting menu.
