Hoping to leave earlier for a flight meet week so I don't miss the Saints game. DirecTV won't be available in flight.

It doesn't look like I'm eligible for standby although I would be fine with paying the $75 fee... $200 change fee is a bit much though. Has anyone ever had any luck with just showing up at the counter and seeing if they will do that for you?

Last thanksgiving did this for a lafayette to houston to dallas reservation. They wanted the $75 for standby, went to the airport early and got on both flights for free just by saying "im on the 430pm and was wondering if i could get on this flight". This isnt to say a gate agent may ask you for the $75 at the gate

Unfortunately, basic economy isn’t going to get you any favors from United. Good luck.

Just pay the change fee if it means that much to you to watch the game.
