St Lucia TripPosted by JBM210 on 12/5/18 at 8:31 am

In the beginning stages of planning a early summer trip here with the wife. I searched but didn't find a whole lot of info. Leaving out of New Orleans. For those that have been, where did you stay? Not much into snorkeling or hiking. Just want to chill out, beautiful scenery and maybe a bar or two to hit at night. Looking at all inclusive as well. I saw a boat excursion to Martinique. That's more our speed. Suggestions? TIA

Is this the new "trendy" place to go in the Caribbean? I feel like I hadn't really heard of anyone going to St. Lucia, but all of a sudden I know 3 couples going early next year (different trips). A few years back I felt like it was the same with Punta Cana.
Sorry that I can't add anything to your questions, just curious how you chose St. Lucia.

We went to St Lucia for our honeymoon.
We stayed at rendezvous resort. It was great. It was mostly Brits. The locals told us that most Americans went to the sandals resorts.
Rendezvous is close to the port city of Castries. We were able to just ride bikes into town from the resort. We felt very safe the whole time

I'll give you my experience.
Wife and I stayed at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian for our Honeymoon. We loved it, but you get what you pay for. We were in the Rondoval Suites. We never waited on anything and sat where ever we wanted to, whenever we wanted to. We had access to restaurants that other guest did not have access to. Other room levels needed to be out early to reserve seating.
There was a main party pool with the music. Then, there were quiet pools where all you heard was the ocean.
Staying at one Sandals gives you access to the other Sandals locations. Wife and I went to dinner at the other Sandals resorts a few nights.

, That describes our Honeymoon as well.
Food was nice, service was awesome (again, can't comment on other levels of service). I never felt like I was getting poor quality. In fact, I wanted to local flare when it came to food and booz.
Anywho, I'd go back in a heartbeat if I could (work, kids, etc.).
I have had other family members stay at other St. Lucia resorts and they have all had wonderful things to say. It seems like it is hard to go wrong picking a St. Lucian resort.
So, to sum it up, I have only stayed at one place, and I'd go back to that one place again tomorrow if I could.
Have fun!

Solid review.
My wife and I went for our honeymoon in 2013. Stayed at the Grande as well.
Very nice. All inclusive. Food was decent. Nothing extraordinary but you could get whatever, almost whenever. Endless drinks too.
Excursions were fun. Highlight was going to the hot springs with mud bath. Also recommend the booze cruise/or sunset boat ride, if nothing more than to enjoy the scenery.
There is also an old Fort right next to the Grande, You can walk to it and pay to enter the park. Lots of cool stuff to explore, hike.
