Spirit No Longer Offering Non-stop to Cancun from NOLA?

Usually won't fly Spirit, but the non-stop flight and the times of the flights were too good to pass up. Booked the flights about a month ago for our trip in May. Got an email this morning saying there was a schedule adjustment with our flights. Now we have connections in Fort Lauderdale for hours at a time both going and coming back. Guess they got rid of the non-stop flight.
What really sucks is that we have to cancel this flight because now there are much better options and they will give us credit to use on a future Spirt flight. I didn't plan on flying Spirit again after this. This sucks!

In the event of a major schedule change they have to refund you, not just flight credit. They won't necessarily volunteer this information. Reference the Department of Transportation and file a complaint with DOT if they don't budge.

Spirit is still showing non-stop from NOLA to Cancun (and back) July 5, July 10.
Scheduled to travel those dates and was intrigued by the non-stop option (as well as price), but decided to go with SWA because of baggage / golf club nickel and dime fees.
Net-Net..still showing Nonstop options.

It was one of the biggest reasons we chose the dates for our trip was so we could fly non-stop. Frustrating that they changed them on us.

Spirit gets a lot of flack, but I’ve had better customer service experience with them than a lot of other major airlines. They aren’t Delta, but not as bad as you would think.
