Round trip flights are $400 from Orlando to Rio. I’m honestly tempted. But haven’t really heard much news on them reopening back up.

I don't think they closed. Going the herd immunity route.

I wouldn't hold your breath. It's probably the hardest hit country right now.

I don't know if they closed or not, but my buddies family there said it's pretty bad right now.

Form what I can tell, the President didn't want to close but local governors opposed to him did anyways, and they are in a power struggle over it.

Thought Trump banned them a week or so ago? People were struggling to get back from Brazil to US...

Being in the middle of all the eye candy on Ipanema Beach is worth a short stint with Corona.

Rio is a crime infested cesspool. If I ever go back there in my life then it will be too soon.

Most of it is, yes. But Leblon and Ipanema are OK...I lived in Leblon for 3 months and absolutely loved it.

Spent a month in in Leblon and Ipanema...absolutely incredible. skip downtown Rio and only do Copa if it a high end hotel restaurant or bar, high end restaurant, or you want to pay for sex.

I’ve got friends and business associates in Rio. Americans can visit and return; but, must quarantine for 2 weeks when they return.

Now is not the time...

Perhaps in the Fall. The USD is very powerful against the Brazilian Reais right now. Not likely to change fast so you have time and whenever you get there it’s gonna be cheap.

Brazil is in the middle of the largest Covid outbreak on the planet. Much of the country is still in lockdown. The bars, restaurants and whatnot are impacted. Crime has escalated as desperation has set in. Politically theres certainly a possibility of some unrest as Bolsonaro’s support wanes.

It’s a beautiful country with a fun and proud people. Can’t wait to go back; but, I’m gonna wait a while.

This. The actual cases are far higher than they are reporting because they are hardly bothering to test. When they do test 56% of the tests are positive, no other country has reached levels this high.

That said, I just put down a deposit to go for a month in October-November, traveling along the southeast coast. I'll be a little surprised if it happens but I'd love to go back, and am looking for something to replace two other trips that cancelled. Maybe covid will burn through Brazil quickly, they certainly aren't doing much to slow it.

Ilha Grande has posadas which are awesome. Super chill island if you’re wanting to get some Brazilian culture without the crowds.
