Signs you are a lunatic when it comes to Travel

1) You have a Google Map made 6 months in advance with about 100 restaurants and bars on it for a 5 day trip.

2) You get to the airport 4 hours before your flight is even scheduled to start boarding.

3) You went over your data limit on your cell because you listened to too many Rick Steves' Podcasts

In January you have five trips already planned for the year and are talking with your friends about where the group will go next year.

To be fair I’m talking about myself.
I was making a google map for a trip in 6 months for a city I’ll be in for 4-5 days and I’ve got like 50-60 places on there for every conceivable neighborhood

I have a credit card strategy mapped out for a trip that won't happen until summer 2020.

As I read through the replies, I understood all and kinda shook my head in agreement. We all visit this board for a reason.

Honestly, this just makes complete sense to me, and I think everyone should do this...but, the wife and I are going to London and Paris in April and we have a spreadsheet going with all of our flight times/record locators, confirmation numbers and addresses of the HomeAway houses we're staying in, booked restaurants, and booked day trips
It just makes things easier.

What restaurants in London and Paris you looking at brutha
Posted on 2/16/18 at 11:28 pm to RummelTiger
Jules Verne, ooooo you boujie
I can give you a ton of places in both, but just to be short:
London, you MUST go to Barrafina. It’s spanish tapas, counter service only, no reservations. They have a Michelin Star and 3 locations. The queues can get really long, one of the locations has the shortest lines, if you get there right when they open you’ll be ok. The prices are super reasonable, especially for the wine. One of the better meals I’ve ever had anywhere.
Dishoom (several locations) for modern Indian.
Paris:
L’ami Jean
Spring (one of the single best meals of my life)
Septime (only had lunch here and it was before they got their Michelin Star)
L’’Avant Comptoir (tiny, Uber hip wine bar with the menu being pictures of the food hanging from the ceiling. Awesome place)
Le Chateaubriand (top 100 restaurant in the world, super affordable tasting menu, reservations are somewhat hard to get)

Spring closed last year, sorry. But Daniel Rose’s other two places are still open.

That's what things like TripIt are for. Check some of those programs out.

Can second these suggestions.
The service at Dishoom was best I ever had (they brought us chai and umbrellas in line when it started raining for example). If you even somewhat like Indian highly suggest.
Le Chateaubriand was probably my second favorite meal ever. The sommelier is great, and found us an outstanding bottle of wine for a very reasonable price (about $80). Their signature desert with the egg is something I could eat with every meal and not get tired of.
