Heading to SF and Napa soon. Some work but some downtime as well. I'm looking for lunch suggestion in SF (either Chinese or bar/good beer), possible lunch or dinner suggestion in Napa, and any can't miss wineries.

I have booked the following (note that some of these are not my choosing, others are):

SF dinners at North Beach Restaurant and The Progress
Napa lunch at Celadon, brunch at Bouchon, dinners at Ad Hoc and Black Stallion Winery.
Winery tours at Stags’ Leap Cellars, Luna, Laird Estates, and B Cellars. Schramsberg is fully booked.

Girlfriend and I just did this exact trip in November.

We toured Schramsburg, Madrigal, and Kenzo. The wine at Kenzo is some of the best I have ever had, but the wine itself is NOT cheap. Worth the trip if you really enjoy wine but it is a little stuffy in there. The winery is gorgeous though. It is owned by a Japanese billionaire. We also went to Ram's Gate but did not get a tour. They are one of the few wineries that have food, so we just sat on the back porch, tried different wines and ordered a meat and cheese board to pick at. We did this on the afternoon we arrived and it was awesome way to settle in and relax.

For food in Napa, we ate at Bottega and Redd. I was disappointed with Bottega. Nothing really seemed to standout. It may have just been an off night for them because they have very good reviews. Redd on the other hand was fantastic! We order a bunch of appetizers and split an entree. Everything was delicious.

As for San Fran, We really enjoyed going to the ferry building and hanging out at Hog Island Oyster Co. with drinks and sampling oysters from all over the country. Good atmosphere, beer selection, and on the bay. Mama's on Washington square had delicious breakfast but get there early cause it is small and normally has a line. We got there 10 minutes before it opened and didn't have to wait.

We mostly kept it relatively chill for lunch and splurged on dinner. Let me know if you need any recommendations for dinner and/or activites. Hope you have great trip! San Francisco and Napa are awesome places.

Was going to suggest Bouchon, but it seems that you have that covered.

Maybe stop by Russian River brewing in Santa Rosa, as it seems like you enjoy good beer.

The Girl and the Fig in Sonoma was good stuff, too.

good call on Bouchon. You should consider making reservations at Bourbon and Branch one night in SF. It's a great old speakeasy.

If you like sparkling wine, you should put Iron Horse on your list. Granted, its way out on West edge of Sonoma, but they make fantastic sparkling wine and very delicious pinots. All estate grown, gorgeous property, and if you go on a Sunday they have someone come out and shuck oysters (but check to make sure it is the case).

Redd is a great restaurant. Just very thoughtful and delicious food. Talk to the sommelier and see if he has any wine he is looking to move. We got a great bottle of cab at half off the list price (so probably only a 200% markup from the winery down the street) just by chatting him up.

As far as San Fran, only had two grazes/meals there. One was standing at the bar at Zuni Cafe eating platter after platter of raw oysters and thin cut french fries chased with rose and martinis. And the other was balls to wall order one of everything from Mission Chinese. Can't recommend either of those places enough.

Bounty Hunter in Napa has some very good food and craft beer. They also have wines from the area for sale there. The BBQ is done just out back in a huge smoker. The ribs are the most tender I've ever had. North of Napa in St. Helena there is a restaurant named Brasswood that's very good. It's near the Rombauer winery and wine you bring from Rombauer can be corked at Brasswood at no charge. I love the Rombauer Zin and Chardonnay. It's pricy though but very good. Sonoma was nice but we didn't eat there. Went to Reyes Point and ate at a place called The Fog Inn. Amazing clam chowder and good wines and beer. Go to Bogeda Bay if you can. It's nice. There is a restaurant right on the bay that serves Dungeness crab as fresh as it gets. The crab boats dock there.

Gotts Roadside is awesome. They have an Ahi Burger that is second to none. There is one in Napa and one just north of Rutherford.

Also the Oxbow Market there in Napa is pretty good for tasty fare. There are a number of choices in there.

In which town will you be hoping to eat dinner while in the valley? We like to stay in Yountville to be able to walk to tons of great restaurants.

Do you want to be cab focused on wineries? Mountain, valley or both?

On Spring Mountain, we like Keenan and Smith-Madrone.

On Howell Mountain, CADE, La Jota, O'Shaughnessy and Red Cap are good.

Calistoga area - Larkmead is fantastic. Failla is great. We are pinot club members there.

Spottswoode, Corison and Young Inglewood are all great - we are members at Young Inglewood and love the other two as well.

How many more lunches and dinners do you need to plan in Napa?

Thanks to all. Staying at Silverado in Napa. Looking for one lunch there and will choose between the suggestions below. Think I'm set for dinners. Also looking at Mission Chinese for SF lunch.

Maybe Mumm for sparkling? Really have no clue as to wine interests. Not a huge cab guy. Wife wants some sparkling for sure. Sorry for the ignorance.

Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen is great for lunch if you're in the St. Helena area when it's time to eat.

If you are into good beer, Cellarmaker brewing is a must in San Francisco. It's a small brewery but they put out some really good ipa's, stouts, porters, etc.

Go over the bridge, take first exit and go up a hill to a former military lookout they built for WW2
China Town
I would go to Livermore over Napa.
17 mile Drive Sunset on Carmel Beach
Pleasanton/Dublin
Giants Game.

This depends on the area you're in. If you're looking for interesting ethnic food but not necessarily Chinese, I'd go to the Golden Gate Park area where the Korean and Burmese population is most concentrated. I've had B*Star Bar, which is Burmese. It is owned by the same folks that own Burma Superstar, but they take reservations instead of making you wait in line.

Mister Jiu's is a newish trendy Chinese spot that gets good feedback. Hakkasan is super nice Chinese, more of a dinner place. Very good, but probably not what you're looking for. Chinatown is an option if you're just looking to get lunch casually and walk around.

I've only done Santa Rosa/Sonoma, so no Napa-specific suggestions. But like others have said, I wouldn't want to miss Bouchon which you have booked already.

I'll second them. I've had some regular releases and their Commander's Palace 2010 release. Really good stuff.

Freaking fantastic wine. Pretty expensive, but just excellent.
