Wife and I are in the very early stages of planning our ten year anniversary trip. We’ve been debating between Boston and San Francisco. We’d probably either go at spring break or early summer. We’ve never been to either city. Which would you choose? We’d plan to catch a baseball game either place but which city would have the most to do?

San Fran can still be chilly in June but there’s much more to do in that area. Can hit wine country, Monterey, Carmel, etc.

I'll take San Francisco. Beautiful city. Lots to do and see. My third favorite restaurant city in the U.S. behind New York and New Orleans. We love going to the Napa and Sonoma Valleys which are a short drive to the north.......However, if baseball is a priority, I would rather go to Fenway.

It’s not really a priority but I am in general a big baseball game. Going to a game a fenway is a bucket list trip for me at some point in life. I’ve heard San Fran’s stadium is pretty awesome as well though. I’m not a fan really of either team but i like checking out different baseball venues

You honestly can't go wrong with either one. Both are fantastic cities with fantastic baseball venues. Both have great history, although Boston will offer more. The food and drink options are better in San Francisco, but you can still eat and drink at some fantastic spots in Boston. I think the city of Boston is "cooler" in a more local, authentic way, but they are both fantastic.

AT&T in San Francisco is my favorite park I’ve been to, although that list isn’t that long. Beautiful park and some cool spots to pregame around it too.

If you are looking for a romantic trip and a willing to drive a bit, spend a couple of nights at the Tickle Pink Inn in Carmel (south of san fran).

As most said in this thread, you cant go wrong with either choice. If you want to get out of the city, the surrounding areas of san francisco (napa, carmel, etc) are pretty hard to beat.

I much prefer SF and the surrounding areas (Sonoma, Half Moon Bay, Mt Tam, Muir Woods), but in June you are likely to get a lot of fog, especially in the mornings. Not a big deal, but just something to be aware of.

Boston is a great city, but for a 10 year trip the San Fran area seems like a no brainier to me. Wine country in the summer with the golden rolling hills is about the perfect place to rekindle the flame my friend

But if you want to stay in the city, Boston may be better

san fran is one of the best american cities, despite its flaws. Great food, awesome sites, plenty to do nearby, and a definite vibe to it.

I will never vacation in san fran, as I og there for work 10-12x per year but I do love the city.

San Fran has more to do and if you hit the surrounding areas and wine country(and you should), there's more to do. yes June is a strange time weather wise in San Fran but if you cross the golden gate to Marin County the weather should be nicer. The food scene is awesome in San Fran but I had some great meals in Boston too

Sounds like San Fran is the winner. Once we start planning I’ll have to make a post to get suggestions on places to stay and things to do

If you’re just comparing San Francisco to Boston, I think Boston is easily a more interesting city mainly due to the history. It’s also a better sports town.

However, factoring in the surrounding area, and considering that it’s an anniversary trip, I don’t disagree that SF is a better choice.

I’m as large a proponent as there is for Boston on this board, and even I vote SF. It’s just a better setting for an anniversary, especially if you get out to the Napa region.

There is a lot to do. Some of is "touristy" some very beautiful nature and cool city neighborhoods,

Alcatraz, Coit Tower/Telegraph Hill Gardens then lunch in North beach/ Washington Park , Fisherman Wharf, Golden Gate Park/Bridge, Muir Woods to Napa and/or Sonoma Valley Wine, lunch in Sausalito or the park across the bay for the view of GG and the city etc..Then down to Monterrey, Carmel by The Sea, 17 mile drive, Pebble Beach.

I always felt SF and NoCal is a very romantic city/area so a great choice for a anniversary.Again.. More to do than you have time or money!
