Tropical for sure. Caribbean is good for shorter flight but I’m open to other locations as well. What are some all inclusives that are nice? I don’t mind paying more if it’s really worth it. Will be April or May of next year for timeframe.

TIA I trust this board more than these top 10 lists I keep seeing on google. No idea which ones are there because they deserve it or because they paid to be there.

We went to the TD Travel Board favorite Excellence Playa Mujeres for ours a few years ago. It was awesome, would highly recommend. A couple of our friends have gone since then and all loved it.

Not really a fan of the all inclusive type resort. But we did Peter Island for the honeymoon and it was nice.

went to EPM last month and went to Sandals Grande St lucia for my honeymoon and both are very, very good. EPM has the best service, but Sandals had an awesome beach.

Just got back from my honeymoon and we went to Excellence Playa Mujeres. Without a doubt I would do it again. We had a great time and the facilities, service and atmosphere were more than we expected.

Peter Island is fantastic. Unfortunately, Irma destroyed it. As of this date they don't have a reopen date but I'd guess sometime in 2019. This is true of many of the resorts in the BVI and USVI.

ETA: However, Anegada Beach Club is fully functional. Anegada is a fantastic island although a bit difficult to get to. Once there, it's worth the trip. Miles of pristine beaches to hang out on and walk like Cow Wreck Beach. It's a quiet island but that's what I'd want for a honeymoon.

Went several years back and it was excellent! Thinking of taking the kiddos down there for an experience but unfamiliar which ones are the better kid friendly.

This!

We stayed at Secrets Capri, but took a "tour" of Secrets Maroma. Secrets Capril is Ok for the money but Secrets Maroma is badass. Probably twice as much $ too.

There are people who like Sandals and there are people who don't care for it. I love it.

I honeymooned at Sandals Royal Caribbean & Private Island in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I love that resort. It's small, though. The staff is awesome and they try to get everyone involved in all of the activities. Good restaurants on site, but you'll have to eat at some of them several times if you stay long enough.

Depending on what you are looking for, there are much larger Sandals resorts, including Sandals Whitehouse, which is further south in Jamaica. The place is massive and has tons of restaurants.

Iberostar Rose Hall is also a good resort.

Calabash cove in St Lucia. It's much less crowded than most resorts (like sandals). Swim up room is legit

We just got back from Sandals Regency La Toc in St. Lucia in March for our honeymoon, and enjoyed it. We flew from New Orleans to Miami, then Miami to St Lucia(less than a 4 hour flight), from there it was a 1 hour bus ride to the resort. I wasn't sure what to expect at first but thoroughly enjoyed our time there, the food was great at a couple places and decent at others, the staff was almost too friendly. We did the deep sea fishing excursion and that was a good time, had read great things about the Joes Knows tour but decided against them when we watched them pull up to the beach and unload 27 people off of what is basically a 30ft center console boat, frick that. We pretty much hung out at the beach and swim up bar the whole week.

Our room was I suppose around the middle for their price range, we didn't do butler service or a room with a private pool or anything special, it was the "Pitons Oceanview with Private Sundeck". The room was nice and overlooked the bay/beach and we'd hang out and watch the cruise ships come in every morning, and was constantly stocked with drinks, beer, wine, etc.

Overall we had a great experience and would do it again.

CSB: Matt Canada and his wife were in the room next to us, talked to him for a bit and he and his wife were super nice.

Decisions like this are based upon the time you have, budget and interests (once you leave the room! )

Of all the islands I've been to, Grenada was by far the "coolest". It's not for everyone, and it doesn't have that "party vibe" like the Mexican resort areas.

But..

It's got beautiful beaches. English speaking people that like Americans (Clint Eastwood did help take their country back from the Cubans BTW! ) Waterfalls.

We have friends who's daughter is going here....

LINK

We didn't stay there, but Sandals is known for having great, high end type all inclusive resorts around the Caribbean.

I have a friend on a honeymoon right now in St. Lucia and he's lovin' it and the pictures are beautiful. We almost went there for a trip a couple of years ago.

LINK

Just be knowledgeable on the whole "all inclusive" theme. Many of these places offer just crappy well drinks (yeah, you get all you want) and bland food options. You want this to be special, so do your homework (like TripAdvisor). You sometimes aren't going to save money going "all inclusive" vs. just doing things on your own (getting a beach place and "self catering" (with a kitchen etc.)

Congratulations and have fun!

Yeah, I can second the Excellence route

Honeymooned there and it was v nice. Not sure how the price compares to others, but it wasn’t cheap. Think it was $6k for six moths in one of the rooms that had the rooftop pool. That part probably wasn’t necessary (we were in the back of the resort, so the view wasn’t that great) but all other aspects were great.

Like most, Pool and beach are nice and it’s in a quiet part north of Cancun. Service was very good and food was even better. I don’t think I had a bad meal. French place was awesome. That’s what separates it IMO. I love food, and I know people don’t go to AI’s for the food, but this one definitely surprised me
