So I'm looking to book a vacation for the summer in Europe. I see May 26 to June 8th in Dublin RT out of New Orleans for 720 or a RT out of London for 850 during the same period.

Now I am a person who enjoys seeing the country side and being a local for the most part. So I am open to both even though I know London offer more to see and do. Lodging difference appears to be about 600 for the same duration. Which would you choose?

If you want the countryside maybe go to Dublin. Head out to the West.

London is a trip unto itself. It’s hectic.

They are very different places so you have to decide what you want. Really you can do Dublin in like 2 days and see other parts of the country which are awesome.

London you could spend a month there and still have a lot to see. Its not a relaxing place I’ll tell you that.

Is actually more expensive than both of those locations. Although that is on my list with Porto

Yeah London would keep me busy during the day that is for sure. It would be breakfast at a local place, sight seeing, beer drinking, sight seeing, then dinner, then pub every night.

I FREAKING LOVED Ireland. Based on your time that would be absolutely perfect. I would do 2 maybe 3 days in Dublin. After that go explore. Happy to add commentary if you decide to geaux.

I’ll say Dublin, simply because I have not been yet and really want to visit. Both will be quite pricey for anything you do on the trip. I really enjoyed London, but didn’t get to see nearly enough.

Since you are a teacher right? If you've never been to London I'd go there honestly. Sooo much history there.

We went last summer and spent 4 nights in county Kent and 4 nights in London. I much preferred the countryside personally.

Well yea and I do a US then Overseas trip so I plan on making it to London/Ireland eventually even if I don't go this time. Although this time due to budgets and a summer schedule I can't plan like I want so I have to choose less days and one location vs more and multiple locations.

If you want to go a little further, I absolutely loved Plymouth. Drinking a pint and overlooking the Hoe is great.

For me that’s the easiest decision ever . Dublin by far. It’s a totally different vibe . Ireland has 5 -6 million people , London alone has 9 million, most of whom seem to be sprinting somewhere. A sea of green or a sea of concrete. Warm comfort food , castles, easy day trips, wonderful story tellers, music everywhere, great relaxed pubs, ...it’s just wonderful.

I do like London. But for specific things like galleries and museums and concerts etc . To have a perfect vacation I’m headed to Ireland .
Or Barcelona- but that’s another conversation.

May book Ireland because they have one that is 600 RT flight for 7 days vs London that is 850 for 10 days and then the difference in lodging will be 300 as well... so is it worth the extra 550 for 3 more days.... when I can go back for longer later....

Plus I have a few baseball stadiums to hit this summer

London is Waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy more expensive to eat, drink, stay, get around, etc.

Especially if you leave Dublin and go West. London is super expensive.

I was moving at such a fast pace to see everything that I hit a wall. It did cause me to learn the joy of taking tea and making a break of it

So it appears I will have to choose between Copenhagen, Lisbon, or Stockholm since the GF wants to go to London and Dublin

wHAT? oh well.....of the 3 I would choose Copenhagen for the coolest city, but it is very, very expensive as is Stockholm. Lisbon is great too and more affordable although the craft beer scene is in its infancy there.....but the food is better than CPH.

Looks like you can get RT from Dublin to Lisbon for $150 on Ryan air. So that puts Nola to Lisbon as about the same flight cost as Nola to London.
