Need some help. I have a group of 12. Does anyone know if I can rent a boat fro key west to take to dry tortugas? Or even a private charter?

Go rent you a fricking 28 foot center console and call it a day

It's certainly doable. I was camping there a few years ago and a group with around 25 large center console fishing boats pulled up and had a fishing tournament while camping on the island.
If you want to camp there you have to make arrangements with the National Park service. They have limited camp sites and reservations. The fishing group had some special arrangement and set up tents in an area that is not normally camping.

Just buy a ticket on the high speed catamaran that runs out there. It is fun and you can sit up top.

Yes and yes to your answer. Really the best way to go is by private boat. You can stop and snorkel, lobster, fish, and stone crab on the way. Make sure you get a boat with enough mileage and good chart plotter if you go without a captain

I’ve done the catamaran ferry trip and the seaplane version.
For your sized group contact the ferry folks, the trip there & back with the right folks is OK.
