Not being a smart alek here but I’d do a search. There have been a lot of threads on this.

I’ve only done round trips

I have been twice, both times on Holland America from Vancouver to Seward. I like to go from south to north because the scenery gets more spectacular the farther north you go. One time we took the additional land tour to the Denali Park on the Alaskan Railroad train. The other time we went a week early and divided our time between Vancouver and Victoria.

Don't,

Fly to Anchorage, fly to Juneau, drive to Valdez, drive to Denali, drive to Fairbanks and fly home.

Cruise ships don't stop long enough at the ports to see much IMHO

We did much of this by train after the cruise.

Correct, If you want to actually see Alaska do this. A Alaskan cruise is like being on any other cruise 99% of your time, and getting a very tiny glimpse of Alaska during the other 1%. That being said I do like taking the Sea Planes for a ride, and whale watching excursions.

Alaska too big to do on your own. Lots of places only accessable by boat.

I hate cruises but a land/see cruise is the best way to see Alaska’s in 10days or less. Sure if you had 3 months to spend out there, that’s a different story.

most of the state is only accessible by air. I see nothing wrong with cruises but realize you're seeing a very small percentage of the State. Some spectacular places you can drive or fly to as well

There are cruise/RV packages you can get too.

Small ship cruising is another option people often overlook. It doesn't have the luxury of large ships but is more adventure oriented and you spend more time exploring than In port. They lead hikes, kayak excursions, zodiac expeditions, and explore the places big ships don't go.

Uncruise

Alaskan Dream
