re: Place to Move to In Colorado, Utah, Idaho
I like Idaho but have spent more time there than the others. Pretty jealous actually, hopefully I'll be there in 10 years.

All three have great outdoor activities. Utah may have better weather in the southern area.

Ouray, Co. It’s stupid beautiful. Get an off-road vehicle...

I was looking at houses in Ouray, Co yesterday. One on Queen St was pretty nice. I have pretty much the same idea as you but I prefer some more density. I just want a house on high ground at this point.

A friend of mine from New Jersey retired to Kellog, Idaho a few years ago. I see pics on FB everyday and it’s pretty nice.

re: Place to Move to In Colorado, Utah, Idaho
We settled for Park City and are more and more happy with our decision each time we visit, which is like every 4-6 weeks for the past 2+ years.

For us, it was a 3-4 year search. We spent the first 2-3 years combing over every part of Colorado before searching through Utah.

Our two key criterion were accessibility and livability (after settling on the Rocky Mountain region due to climate and year-round outdoor activities).

We felt accessibility was important for both the wife and I as we transition to moving full-time as well as for our kids/family in the future. We also thought livability was important from a practical standpoint since we aren’t going to be just visiting for a week.

From an accessibility standpoint, Park City is less than 40 minutes from the SLC airport (which is a Delta hub) and ~20 minutes to the eastern part of the city.

From a livability standpoint, it also has everything from a Whole Foods to a Best Buy to a World Market to a Wal-Mart. Importantly, it also has a hospital.

Aside from the aforementioned criterion, PC is also about a 4-5 hour drive from Las Vegas, Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, etc.

Someone else mentioned Heber which is also a good option.

As far as Colorado goes, that whole Dillon/Frisco/Silverthorne area could be good too. It was just a little too far from DIA for us, and, I70 can get to be a mess. But, that was us. It might work for you.

If I won the lottery, I’d move to Couer D’Alene. Went through there in December and it was incredible. Big lake and a pretty renowned golf course with the floating green. You’re half an hour from Spokane and about half an hour from a good ski resort in Silver Mountain.

The Idaho Falls area of Idaho is nice. Western side of the Tetons, without the insane prices of Wyoming. Also a fan of Bozeman, MT, southern UT... a lot of places out there I haven’t been though, so I’m sure there are many great ones. It’s beautiful, but I’m not sure I could handle the cold.

I have a coworker who is moving there. She went through a divorce, wanted different scenery and I convinced her to look at Couer. She had a job lined up and a house to rent within 3 weeks, and is leaving to go there this Sunday. Its fairly inexpensive compared to a lot of other places.

What's the difference between Bozeman and Missoula?

Both great towns. Bozeman is more diverse. Sounds like a good excuse to take a vacation and explore.
