Phenix/Sedona, AZ Recommendations
The wife and I decided to fly to Phenix at the end of December for 4 nights. We were thinking about staying a night or 2 in Phenix and a night or 2 in Sedona. What do you guys recommend for this time of year?
Hotel or cabin budget is $200-$300/night

Restaurants?
Outdoor activities?
Things to see?

Thanks

For Sedona there have been quite a few threads on these things you need to search on. Had tons of good recent info. Arabella hotel in Sedona is fantastic for that price range.

Ditto on the Arabella. Just stayed there. Great property in walking distance to shopping, restaurants, etc.

I’d spend as much time in Sedona as you can.

Agree. Just fly in and out of Phoenix. Once you get to Sedona, your not gonna want to leave. Either that or you’ll kick yourself for only staying one or two nights.

Look into flying into Flagstaff. It's a cheaper flight there than to Phoenix and much closer to Sedona/Grand Canyon. My fiance' and I are going to Sedona for our honeymoon in early February. Staying at Enchantment.

You guys were driving me crazy with Arabella - been to sedona a bunch but not recently and couldn’t figure out where this was - then it clicked.

Used to be Kings Ransom .... looks like it got a major facelift. Elote Cafe always sweet

As others have said, spend your time in Sedona.Grab a few sunsets. See one from the airport. Drive up Oak Creek and back. You’ll want to stay longer.

There's a Mexican joint, high end, that is supposed to sport great views and food. I don't remember the name but it's been mentioned here before as a good fine dining option.

Elote Cafe. It is fantastic. Doesn’t take reservations and can be a long wait, but it’s worth it.

This is place your thinking of. High end with fantastic views. I will say that Elote is pretty damn good but the wait times can get stupid crazy. At least this place does open table.

In Sedona, rent a jeep to do the rock trails. Don't be one of those guys who rides in the back of the jeep and lets someone else do the driving. It looked incredibly boring and tame.....

It's a couple hundred bucks to do it for a 24 hour period, but its worth every penny.

We used that company.

Vs......

Get a bottle of wine and a six pack, pick up a pizza and go find a place to watch the sunset.

Sedona- eat at Mariposa. A easy good hike is called the “little horse trail” I believe. It should take you to Chicken Point which is an awesome spot.

Phoenix - don’t stay in Phoenix, stay in Scottsdale

Good recommendation. If you want a little longer hike, you can take the broken arrow trail coming from the other direction to chicken point. Beautiful and one of my favorites, IF you are will to get up at dusk and beat the Jeeps out there. It is worth it to do that.

This is the correct answer. I was disappointed in Phoenix (reminded me of Houston). Loved Sedona!
