I am going to Cabo at the beginning of June. My passport expires in July. I’ve heard That you have to have a passport that is valid for 6months after the trip. Anyone know about this? Do i need to expedite the passport process? TIA

Thanks. I even tried emailing the Mexican consulate but haven’t heard back. Should have known where to come first to get answers.

By the way, it appears there is conflicting information on this point. However, you may run the risk of airline gate employees etc having issue with it since six months is pretty customary.

I'd rather be on the safe side.

If you don't have a Visa for Mexico, you need a passport that is valid for the next six months after your travel date.

Airline Gate agents in the US enforce the “6 month rule” much more than immigration in mexico.

Side note, we are there every June for 2 weeks. Hit me up if y’all wan grab dinner or a beer.

Personally, if it was me, I'd ride it out. If my passport is valid, it is valid. If an airline gives me shite, I sue them. There are a thousand lawyers lined up. If Delta didn't let me on the flight home because my valid passport wasn't valid enough for them, I'd sue the dogshit out of them and spend the rest of my life traveling the world.

I can confirm that you will need to get a new passport.

It’s not that they won’t let you back, you won’t go there to have to worry about getting back.

I don’t know why you think you’d be able to sue them. It’s pretty clear on their website

I had a similar situation. Had to go to Mexico City and my passport expired in less than a month.

I called Aeromexico and the Mexican consulate in Austin and they both said it would be fine. Had no problems when I entered Mexico.
