Cuse- am I consider myself decent at flight searches. shite I take 180 segments a year. For the life of me I can’t find a decent Skyteam series of flights from BTR/MSY (or even JFK) to Italy departing 4-18 and returning 4-27. Prefer an open jaw but can circle back if needed. Seems like everything I find is hella expensive. Any recommendations?

I think you're at the right time to start looking, but I'm checking flights to Rome right now and seeing $1771 from BTR and over $2k from MSY. That's unusually high, I remember going BTR to Berlin for about $800-$1300 the past few years in March and April.

My suggestion is to wait a bit, I haven't seen a europe sale for spring yet on delta, united, AA, etc.

Thanks. I got pissed at my wife because she wouldn’t let me pull the trigger on the medallion flash sale last month. My problem is I would like to pay for my ticket to get MQMs and use my global upgrades. I have 800k sky pesos but tend to save those for domestics trips and family needs.

I'll be aware of unique routings... Are ATL- Europe upgrades typically harder than JFK, BOS, DTW or MSP in your experience? I can help try to find the least booked flights as well

If you're willing to drive to Houston, there are some pretty cheap tickets

Honestly this far out getting confirmed for the upgrades isn’t bad. I looked at the DL route map and my goal is to go MSY—???-Italy. Therefore JFK/ATL are options, but so are MSP/DTW. The landing spots in Italy generally appear to be FCO/MXP/VCE from what I see.

That is unusually high for that time of the season. Prices normally rise around mid-May.

I did some poking around and I couldnt find any destinations in Italy and surrounding countries that had good pricing.

Also, are you ready for a 500 game?

Easter is Apr 21, so Rome routes around 4/27 are not going to be cheap. Maybe start in Rome and go north? Prices might be better.

I'm still looking for better options for you, but found $770 from Chicago to Paris for your dates on DL LINK. Either air france through CDG, DL through DTW, or KLM through AMS. Can you use GPUS on AF or KLM?

Next cheapest is philly with a connection in CVG for $849 or fort lauderdale/west palm with a connection in ATL for $854. $933 from IAD nonstop, $1067 for the nonstop from MSP to CDG, and $1090 from JFK. Seems like there's a lot of cheap connection options through the hubs but no deals yet out of them.

Thanks Cuse. I appreciate it. I know on google flights there is the explore button. Are you aware of any functionality that allows a fixed destination but an open departure to look for all possible combos?

I think google flights recently updated it so you can keep the destination the same and explore the departure city. What I did last night was try for different areas of the US as the departure airport (southeast, northeast, midwest) and keep paris as the destination. Once i picked phl, i clicked on the plus symbol to add nearby airports and found DC, NYC prices. It's not as good as picking the departure airport and using the map to select the arrival airport, but its at least functional for cases like this.

I'll probably end up trying both ways and see what I can come up with

Thanks Cuse. Just booked... not thrilled to purchase it for $1328 but I did get lucky and got to use my global expiring on Monday. Therefore I don’t use my 2019 ones so Merry Christmas to me.

Routing:
Outbound- JFK-MXP 545-755am... it is on the a330 which I prefer to the 767. Probably will pick two middle seats for the wife and I.

Return- FCO-AMS 1020-1230...AMS-JFK 230-430
I am booked in business on both. Interested to try the KLM product and it will be the 787. From what I see the food and drinks are less exciting but that should be fine after 10 days in Italy.

So all in all... $2600 and change for two first class tickets to Italy (thanks delta for the global upgrades) and now I can begin to plan the trip.
