So I have never been to the giant swath of land between San Francisco and Portland. Thinking about taking a solo "unplug and enjoy nature" trip out there soon. Maybe fly into Sacramento or Reno, rent a car and do a road trip loop.
It seems like the area doesn't get a ton of tourism. That can be a double edged sword - no Covid infested hordes or sky high hotel fees to deal with but maybe not much to see or do either (ie, the Missouri of the West)
Anyone explored that area? Any tips or recs? I was thinking of hitting Lassen Volcano NP, Redwoods NP, Mt. Shasta, Burney Falls, maybe doing a hike or two or stopping in a quaint town. Maybe head up into southern Oregon.

Trinity Alps are spectacular. Small in area but great scenery and outdoors opportunities.

If you play golf, go to Carmel

Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve
Hog Island Oyster Co. in Marshall if you like oysters. Fun place to hangout and eat
Healdsburg nice town if you’re into wine and nice walkable downtown. Get lunch at Dry Creek General Store
Bodega Bay is a cool little spot on the ocean
Big Basin Redwoods state park
Check out Mendocino
Tons of cool stops along the ocean highway.

Interested in this as well... at least including N.Cal as a part of a family trip.
May fly into Seattle and then travel down, end up with the Grand Canyon and fly home.
I prefer scenic nature, wife wants to see San Fran, Hollywood, etc.
Thik I could spend my 2 weeks in N. Cal.

Mount Shasta is on my too see list. It's the root chakra point and weed is legal.
