Nashville's NYE Live Concert Advice Needed

My parents booked a trip to Nashville for NYE and my dad asked me some things that only the Travel Board would know. He asked me to help him find some "locals pointers for the NYE free concert with Keith Urban. (where to go, what time, etc.)" Any advice is appreciated. TIA

We went after LSU laid an egg against Notre Dame.
It gets crowded - really, really crowded. 200,000 + crowded. Cabs/ubers are impossible to get. If you can drop some coin and get on a rooftop bar, it may be worth it. You'll freeze to death, but at least you'll have access to restrooms, drinks, and not be packed in like sardines.
Very few artists/musicians are worth the hassle. Keith Urban certainly isn't one of them.

This, especially if you are claustrophobic. You'll need to get there as early as you can stand to, else you are trapped in the mob...

We are planning on going... actively trying to talk wife out of it after seeing these pics...
UPDATE: Still going to Nashville for New Years, not going to concert.

Do you have any ideas of where he can find a rooftop VIP where he and my mom can see the concert? Those pictures are wild

I was apart of that crowd the day after the LSU Music City Bowl.
Until about 10 PM. Freezing cold, 20-30 minutes for beer or bathroom, and a free Lady A concert!!! frick that. We went back to the hotel to finish the party. I will say that 5-8:30 or so bar hopping on Broadway was super fun.

It gets like that outside the arena for playoff hockey too, especially when they make a deep run. Spent literally 15 minutes trying to go up a block and essentially unable to move in a gridlocked crowd. Got the hell out of there when we got the chance and watched the game from a bar several blocks away from Broadway...

Actually, getting a rooftop package isn't going to help this year because they have moved the concert location from the Lower Broadway/Riverfront Park area (probably because of the crowds like in those pictures above). Here is the information on this year's setup from the event website:

The city’s main celebration, Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight, will take place on Monday, December 31, 2018, starting at 4:00pm at Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, featuring performances by Keith Urban, Peter Frampton, Judah & The Lion, Caitlyn Smith, Devon Gilfillian, and the Fisk Jubilee Singers. The evening is filled with free live music, fireworks, confetti, and the Music Note Drop® at midnight.

The Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park is well away from Lower Broad and basically takes up most of the area between the Farmer's Market and First Tennessee Park, the stadium where the Sounds & Nashville FC play. There is a VIP package available that looks worthwhile, if you don't mind the cost: Music City Gold Circle Party
