The wife and I are heading to Nashville for a long weekend in November. I've been to Nashville a couple times but it was always just a quick trip for a game and then head home.

With that said, I'll be doing the Nashville Marathon on Saturday morning and we are going to the Titans-Bengals game on Sunday. So I need recommendations for places to eat - breakfast/lunch/dinner; places to hang out at night (not into dancing particularly but like live music bars); places to watch college football on Saturday. Also anything else to take in or do?

Thanks for any recommendations. I know it's a long way out, but hell, I'm bored and thinking about it now so shoot.

Merchants (sit downstairs), Margot Cafe, Rolf and Daughters are all good options.

Patterson House for cocktails, Pinewood social is a cool spot for a drink or just killing a few hours. It has a bowling alley that is small but fun. Urban Cowboy has some interesting drinks and a patio with a solid vibe. Tons of great breweries if you're into beer. Might want to check with the Food & Drink board for more recs.

Where are you staying, as that may help some.

Breakfast, you will get a lot of suggestions for the Loveless Café, but it is a bit of a drive from downtown and the wait can be long (but worth it). Probably wouldn't work for before the marathon and depending on if the Titans game is an early or late slot it might not be a good option Sunday either.

Jack's BBQ on Broadway was good when we went. It is touristy, but honestly some of the "celeb" places on Broadway aren't bad when it comes to food. Margaritaville and BB King's place have some good items on the menu.

Live music - so many good places. Robert's Western World, Exit Inn, Five Spot. If you can get in the Bluebird go for the experience.

Go to the Ryman, even if just for the self-guided tour. Beautifully restored, and the music history in that building and on that stage is enough to give you chills. Country Music Hall of Fame is interesting, I loved the Johnny Cash museum as much, if not more.

I think many will criticize this recommendation, but...

My wife and I had a great time at Acme Feed and Seed on Broadway before we saw a concert at the Ryman. The first floor has typical American food with some ethnic-influenced choices as well. The food was 7/10, but whatever country band was playing the evening slot was incredible. Really was a lot of fun.

Go to the Preds/Pens game on the 11th @ 7:00PM. The first time the Pens will be back in Nashville since Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final.

You'll probably have more fun at that game than the Titans/Bengals tilt on Sunday.

Good call. I didn't even think about it being hockey season. I've never been to an NHL game but have heard it's a great experience.

Dont eat on Broadway. There are thousands of places much better across the city.

But if you are staying in East Nashville, defintiely hit up Five Points Pizza its great. Also, Rosepepper Cantina is my favorite mexican restaurant in the city and its in East Nashville. Their margaritas are the best Ive ever had.

Edgefield is a great hole in the wall bar down the road from five points. Doesnt look like much, but they have free pool and free darts, and good beer.

The Basement East is right next door to Edgefield if you want to see some good live music, and if you want to run into famous people, its a good spot to go to.
