I'm looking at Mechanicsburg and Camp Hill. How's the culture, schools, etc?

Hershey wasn't a bad area from what I saw - but I have limited experience in that part of the state so others may disagree with me.

I don't really know all that much about harrisburg besides it being the capital. I grew up in the suburbs north of Philly (Horsham) but have family from Allentown, Lansdale, North Wales, etc. It's a great area to raise a family, people are generally friendly, you'll get to experience the glory of wawa. My mom is a realtor in blue bell but she might know some more info about mechanicsburg (specifically schools) if you need to get in touch with her. The only good thing I see about mechanicsburg is you're right by 81, 76 and the turnpike. Can basically get anywhere in the state within a few hours with those highways

Yeah that place is $$$. You're close to Conshohocken which has made a comeback with younger people and has good food, bars, etc. Hope you're ready to deal with traffic on the blue route (476), that highway can be a nightmare. King of prussia has a huge mall, can find anything you want there.

I think everything is relative. From where are you moving? PA can be described as three states - Pittsburgh, Kentucky, and Philly. Harrisburg is right smack dab in the middle of Pennsyltucky. Culture? Not really. Good schools? I've heard that Hershey is one of the better districts in that area but like everywhere, there are good and bad. Football and wrestling are big there.

Moving there from Thibodaux. I've been in the Harrisburg area quite a bit, but never thought of living there. There's a development there called Walden that looks cool. Hershey and Camp Hill are possible

I lived in Mechanicsburg specifically hampden township a little over 10 years ago. Camp Hill homes are more expensive per square foot but has a nice small town feel. It's really close to Harrisburg in terms of a commute. The school are decent from what I remeber.

Mechanicsburg/Hampden Township is a really nice area. Mechanicsburg is like Camp Hill but the housing prices are a lot cheaper. Schools are really good compared to the schools in the area.

But regardless you want to stay on the west shore for the better schools and less crime. The east shore which is Harrisburg has more crime, worse schools, and of course lower home prices.
