Just a quick midweek trip with the wife. Never been, what’s the board advice, thanks. Think that a moonlight boat trip would be fun. Little Havana? Beach?

For great Cuban food eat at Sazon. Drinks on SOBE are horribly overpriced.

We went for the first time in August.
I would suggest to stay closer to Mid-Beach than South-Beach. South-Beach was pretty trashy, IMO. Use the walkway that is between the hotels and the beach, rather than walking along the street, when attempting to get around, it's made with brick pavers and is really nice. The Fountainbleau is a pretty cool resort that has a bar/restaurant that is a fun/happening spot.
We brought our infant with us, so we didn't get to experience much of the nightlife, or nice restaurants. Taquiza was a pretty decent casual taco spot, but as I said, we didn't really hit any nice places while there.

I took a boat tour around Biscayne Bay
Takes you around all the famous houses and it was neat little excursion
You can head down to South Beach area, walk the little strip with bars and trendy restaurants, I remember parking in some garage close by and you could also walk along the boardwalk between the hotels and beach
Definitely go find a whole in the wall Cuban restaurant for some authentic cuban food

My wife and I went 2 months ago for our anniversary. I would also recommend staying around mid-beach, we're in our 30s and while we liked seeing some of south beach we woudln't have wanted to stay there. Don't know if you've got lodging yet but we stayed at an air bnb that was a block or 2 north of the fountainbleu and we absolutely loved it. It's a hotel/condo I guess? Bc I know the guy owned the room but it was also hotel-y. Can't remember the guys name but if you're really interested I'll go back and look. The room was plenty big enough fo rthe 2 of us and had a killer view, right there on the beach looking at the ocean. Had a nice pool and a restaurant downstairs as well. We also did a boat tour around the bay and the tour we booked we found on Air bnb as well, and the start/end point of the tour where you board the boat was pretty much directly across the street from the hotel.
We didn't spend a shitton of time in south beach but I'd recommend going down there for 1 night when it gets dark and just walk along ocena drive. That's the real miami "feel" that you may be looking for that you see in tv and movies.
There is a little area called Wynwood that some locals recommended that's back across the bay on main land. It looked like an area that used to be shite that has gentrified, we enjoyed that area and probably would've spent more time if ti was closer to us.
