I'd honestly rather play at l'auberge. At least there people know wtf they're doing or will at least hear advice. In Vegas it's a shite show. It's like giving livingston parish and Korea players cards

Where are you playing? If you’re on the strip you’re in the wrong location. Go to Fremont.

The casinos on the Vegas strip really don’t pause and offer advice in the midst of a very busy game or the table is crowded and people are betting big. If you want something a little slow paced, go off the strip to some of the older casinos where they actually offer one dollar blackjack and one dollar crap tables and they will offer you advice.

Spending the first couple of nights off the strip is exactly what we did and I learn more and those two nights then I ever could have from videos and other environments. The dealers were super chill and funny, nothing was intense, the games were slow paced and everybody was having a great time. Obviously going onto some of the bigger casinos on the strip as a whole different ball game, the dealers as well as the other players the table have a very low tolerance for rookies

I didn't like it either. As soon as I saw slot machines in the airport, I knew it was a scam.

I have never understood my friends who take at least 1 trip to Vegas a year...often more. I have been once and once was more than enough.

That city just did not do it for me.

Go to a show, see a sporting event, drink at a bar/brewery, go to the old strip and eat at one of the many great restaurants.

Or go to a sports book and watch a game you just bet on.

Fun can be had.

The wife and I debated going to Vegas this year. We've never been. Ultimately, we decided it would probably suck.

Go to Fremont street and watch the side show people who rent out a 3’ circle and do weird things for tips. I saw a dude collecting money to get kicked in the nuts back in October. Another circle had an old lady with painted nipples just bouncing. So stupid but makes you thankful you’re there visiting and not trying to make a living.

I should clarify that I've had a very good time. But then again I also party at the prop stop. And the gambling is extremely amateur.

This.

The single redeeming feature of LV for me is the natural beauty & attractions within about a 300 mile radius of town.

Southern Utah, the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Death Valley, Joshua Tree NM, etc...

All of this.

The best part of the trip we took there was the grand Canyon tour we took. My wife loves Vegas and keeps threatening to go back. If I do, then a guide trip on Lake Meade and a rafting trip down the Grand Canyon are on my list of things to do.

I love Vegas, but gambling is not our top priority. We like seeing concert/shows, hanging out at Freemont St, and trying different restaurants/bars. We have been six times and always have a blast.

You should go at least once. Vegas has something for everybody.

I completely understand why people think Vegas is soulless/depressing/gross, etc.

That said, there is plenty to do for everyone and it's really easy to entertain yourself for a couple of days. I am not what I'd call a Vegas fan but I certainly don't mind a weekend in Vegas every 5 years or so.

I love Vegas but some of the most depressing moments of my life have been wandering outside a Vegas hotel like a zombie at 7am after a wild night and seeing all the hardcore degenerates.
