Marshall, Texas During Christmas Recs
Posted by thedentist45 on 11/12/19 at 10:53 am00
In-laws are planning a trip to Marshall this December and I'm trying to find recommendations on what to do versus what we should avoid.
Thanks
Thanks

If the weather is nice you can go to Caddo Lake State Park, rent a canoe and paddle around. Its a great fishing lake too.

Candlelight tour of homes in Jefferson is awesome, we’ll worth the short trip

Had lunch there today at Porky’s, a BBQ and fried fish place. First time there. The fish is said to be their better option, and it was very good and ridiculously cheap. A “two piece” is two whole slabs, cut in half lengthwise, so you get 4 pieces bigger than the size most places serve. Comes with fries (or baked potato for .50 extra), hush puppy, good cole slaw, homemade tartar sauce, and it’s only $9.99. I brought half my fish home in a box, and I was hungry.
Neely’s is an old school BBQ diner on the main drag. Been there over 90 years. Nothing fancy, but solid value. Get a brown pig sandwich.
Ginocchio is the best upscale place. A rich patent lawyer bought the old space and turned it into a great restaurant, headed by the chef who used to run The Village in Shreveport.
Jefferson, a short drive north, is a more touristy town, with plenty of antique shops and such.
I hear there is a decent history museum in the old courthouse in the square. Have not been able to go yet.
