Flying AA from Baton Rouge to Knoxville with a connection in Charlotte.

Arrive in Charlotte 1025 am. Depart to Knoxville 1110AM.

Am I ok with that? Never flown into or out of charlotte before.

You should be fine assuming there are no delays.

You know the plane types? Assuming CRJ200 or CRJ700 BTR-CLT, not sure about CLT-TYS. If the leg to Knoxville is on a CRJ, you'll come in and leave out of terminal E. You should have plenty of time for that connection.

Piece of advice: try not to gate check your bag as that'll add 5-10 min. If possible, either check it during checkin, take a smaller bag for carryon (overhead bins are tight), or have them print a bag tag at the gate in baton rouge to send to carousel in knoxville

I flew AA Baton Rouge -> Charlotte -> Knoxville a few months ago, and that would be plenty of time even if you gate check a bag.

Assuming no major flight delays, of course.

I had a shorter layover than that and made it no problem.

I am flying through Charlotte on Saturday. It is a nice airport. That is cutting it very close. You better hope your plane is not delayed even for a little bit.

This is great advice when connecting through CLT. I flew BTR-CLT-RDU Tuesday with a 40 minute layover. Damn near missed my connection between waiting on my gate checked bag & having to pee. I swear to God I walked over a mile to get to the connecting flight.

Thanks, everyone. Will consider the possibility of switching flights, as I will have a 6 year old with me.

Don’t change your flight. You have plenty of time. Even with a 6yo.

just looked at the costs to switch flights...they are outrageous. Also, looked at recent arrival and departure gates. Should both be from same concourse. Will weigh options, but looking like I am going to give this a try.

Thanks.

Both flights will be out of the E concourse. I've had layovers there under 40 minutes and had to change concourses and had no issues.

You will be fine. The airline doesn't schedule you unless you have a "legal connection time" for that airport. Usually a min of 35min and varies for every connecting city.

The only connecting flight I've ever missed was in Charlotte. The first leg of the trip was delayed due to weather. We landed and were at the gate in Charlotte 10 minutes before the takeoff time for our next flight---SAME airline--- we got off the plane and RAN to the next concourse to the gate. As we ran toward the gate we saw an airline employee and he called out "Are you the Smiths?" (not our real name) We said YES, thinking they've held the plane for us. He said they just pulled away!!! I said, "Surely you knew our incoming flight had landed???" He said no, they didn't. DUH, really? There were no more flights that night into the small airport we were flying to so we had to stay overnight and leave the next morning. They handed us a list of hotels to call. The first few were booked up and we ended up in a crappy hotel at our own expense.

Moral of the story---I would be VERY worried about the short connection time.

Other flights to Knoxville?
Seat/Row on first flight?
What gates did the flights operate out of today? Near each other?

45 minutes is enough time to pick up some Bo'berry biscuits and make it to your connection.

In my experience never rely on a flight from BTR to be on time
