Old Town Spring.

LINK

Too bad Wunsche Brothers Cafe is closed nowadays. That place was delicious.

Texas Crawfish and Music Festival is in Old Town Spring. Looks like this year they are only doing 1 weekend and it's 4/27-28.

Just go to Houston. Rodeo is still going on this month. Lot of breweries in town, 19th Street, NASA, restaurants, etc.

What exactly are you looking for? Urban cowboy or old mining towns or something?

I wouldn't classify Old Town Spring as that then.

Stock Yards in Ft Worth should be your destination for that.

You need to go to the Hill Country or Alpine/Big Bend.

It's not East Texas, but I would recommend any of the small Hill Country towns west of the I-35 corridor. Boerne, Fredericksburg and the legendary nearby town of Luckenbach, Kerrville, and New Braunfels are all worthwhile destinations if you don't mind driving a little more.

Ahhh Jefferson...the most haunted town in Texas.

Stop by The Grove....drive out to Caddo Lake and eat at Riverbend, rage with the locals at Skinner's back in Jefferson doing karaoke, listen to the trains roll by every 2 hours.
