Looking at possibly going for Christmas this year. Went to Pigeon Forge last year want to try something different. Don't want to have to drive 12 hrs. Any suggestions

Grandparents live right outside of Mt Ida. Used to go every Xmas and summer as a kid and now I go every spring as an “adult”. What do you want to know?
December will probably cold enough that water sports other than fishing are out. Fishing in the winter is crappie, bass and bream. Nice mtn biking trail runs the southern shore and another runs the western part. Some alright camping spots along the shore or on lake islands. Hot Springs is close by and cool for about a day.
Honestly if you don’t want to fish and or mtn bike the entire trip I’d go somewhere else. Further north and west in Arkansas is prettier with more to do.

Lake Ouachita is awesome...during the summer. Get a houseboat and enjoy.

How early in the year could I go and the water be warm enough for skiing/swimming?
